I also have asthma and gerd and I try to control both through diet. I was put on a medication years ago for my gerd. That gastronologist also diagnosed me with barrett's esophogus which is more serious than gerd. Years later, my next gastronologist performed an endoscopy on me and told me I did not have barrett's esophogus.
To make a long story short, I believe after taking the medication, Protonix, the first gastronolgist prescribed during those early years, caused bone density issues which can be one of the side effects of that kind of medication. Just another reason I try to control my gerd through diet. It works for me.
Good luck to you.
