My allergies is causing chronic post nasal drip and causing my throat to be irritated. When I talk it seems to cause more pain. Can post nasal drip cause an irritated throat to cause pain when talking? I've been taking Flonase but my doctor says it can take 2 to 3 weeks to help. I've been taking it 1 week.

Yes, post nasal drip irritates the throat. Try gargling with warm salt water, I use honey cough drops to help sooth the throat too. There is also OTC Chloroseptic spray that numbs the throat a little. I too use Flonase, so stay with it.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I don't know if this helps, I had terrible drainage to the point where I needed to spit up and couldn't get it out. Went to ear nose and throat doctor. He checked me out I had Gerd and it put a scab on my throat so all the drainage was collecting. Anyway the point is he put me on Xyzal and Azelastine HCI That really worked for the continuous nose and throat drainage. I don't know if you have tried them or not if not its an option anyway. Get better smile

Sore throats, also known as pharyngitis, can be acute, lasting only a few days, or chronic, lingering on until their underlying cause is addressed. Most sore throats are the result of common viruses and resolve on their own within 3 to 10 days. Sore throats caused by a bacterial infection or allergies may last longer.

How can pharyngitis be distinguished from an allergic reaction, or can Flonase be used in both cases?
I will be grateful to hear the answer smile smile smile

I am thinking maybe you have a sinus infection or something similar and you may need some antibiotics since your throat is so sore...You might want to call your doctor if it doesn't let up..I hope you feel better soon..8-]]

I have been suffering from a sore throat for 3 years. I have also used many medicines which are anti-allergic and antibiotic but so far there has been no benefit. What is the best solution?
