I have had chronic hives for 4 yrs. I have been through every antihistimine know to man (including anti depressants - which have anti-histimines in them) with no luck.  My hives will break out for everything and anything.  You just never know when and where it will happen.  I have given up on anti-histimines and have started trying naturopathy.  My naturopathic doctor found 86 allergies from 150 items tested, including minerals, vitamins, additives, hormones etc, etc.  My regular doctor thinks I am starting to delvelop asthma.  I have had pnemonia twice in the last 4 mos.  So far I have gone through 2 treatments out of an estimated 15-18.  (Feels like voo-doo)  I will try anything to get rid of this.  Getting your body healthy and eating the proper foods is a great start.  A good friend of mine took her 3 children to the same place and the kids are now asthma and allergy free...!  Has anyone else had good luck with this?  I will keep you posted on my progress.

Hi,

I have been suffering with a chronic case of hives for 5 years. I have been to 5 doctors and no one can figure out what causes my hives. I am now at a dermatologist/internist one of the top doctors in the nation and he can not even cure my hives. I am on so many medications (cyclosporine, cyproheptadine, ranitidine, allegra d and hydroxidine). I am tired of being on all these medicines so I am now trying this chem free technique. You buy new clothes, bedding and towels from stores that have not prewashed their items in laundry detergent (victoria secret and wild oats). Wash these clothes in baking soda only for 8 weeks. Let your clothes air dry instead of putting them in the dryer. This is suppose to break down your immune system and get rid of the hives. I have tried this for a week and so far it is working. Right now I am not taking cyclosporine and taking my meds only once a day instead of twice. I have a few hives on my face, but they are tolerable. I am also not exercising right now b/c I know I will flare up from the heat. If anyone has any good ideas that have worked for them let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for your info...I haven't tried the chem-free in my clothes, but it is worth a shot too.  It's nice to see other people have the same issues with doctors trying every drug known just to mask some of the symptoms.  The more read about what we eat, drink and breathe, the more I think our hives are due to mass production of foods, chemicals etc etc....we sure don't eat like our parents did.  Nothing is fresh, everything is pre-packaged and loaded with chemicals.  I missed my accu-pressure appt. today, so I'll let you know Mon. when I go back.

This week I had my third naturopathic treatment -

  • 1st was for minerals I am allergic to
  • 2nd was for Vitamin B's I am allergic to
  • 3rd was for Yeast, Candida and sugars.

The 3rd treatment was on Monday.  Today is Sat. This week was finally when I noticed my hives reduce.  I didn't have them all week, until today.  Of course I had some wine last night - which probably did it.  But a significant reduction in my hives.  I have another treatment on Monday, I'll let you know how it goes next week too.

My sister also has allergies and is eagerly waiting for my results to see if she will go too.
