On June 13th, I started coughing at night and then my throat got very red and sore and I had a post nasal drip. This went on for a week and then my Dr. put me on a antibiotic (Cefprozil ) for 10 days as I was bringing up green gunk off my lungs. From there, my sinues got really bad and I was blowing green and yellow. I finally got my sinuses cleared up but I still cough, especially at night and have to sleep propped up in bed. I haven't been able to lie down for a month now. I started wheezing a few nights ago. Is it possible that I now have asthma? My lungs are clear but I do have shortness of breath from COPD. The problem seems to be in my bronchial tubes. In 10 days, I'm suppose to go to alaska and sure would like to get this problem cleared up. Anyone out there have any suggestions?I am very leery of taking some of these new medications that have the bad side effects. Thank you.

It very well could be asthma. A lot of people often talk about asthma with children and not so much with adults, but of course, anyone can develop asthma, regardless of their age. I know a lady who was diagnosed with asthma in her seventies, in fact. But anyway, I really think you should visit your doctor before your trip, and tell him/her about your symptoms and the possibility of asthma and such. There's definitely something going on, and hopefully you'll be able to grasp it before going to Alaska, because Alaska's quite cold, and sometimes cold air can be bad for asthma. Well, have fun on your trip, and good luck, I hope you start feeling better soon. Hope I helped!
