Hi. I am new to the forum. I have adult onset asthma that has been getting progressively worse over the past two years (fall and winter months, especially).

I have finally found a doc I can talk to and who is very open about trying different treatment plans until we find one that works, including alternative stuff.

Right now I am trying to change my environment..find a home for my lovable cat, move my bedroom out of the lower level of this old restored 1830's stone building, and begin a regimen of meds (a course of prednisone and ubuterol inhaler 3x per day).

I was recommedned that I get a hepa filter air purifier. I am looking for some help deterining which is best. It seems they range for low hundreds to thousands.

I am also interested in any feedback people have about the medication Serevent.
My doc prescribed it, but frankly, after reading the side effects and the concern that asthma may stimulated by the medication and death may result. Not a very comforting thought before getting started. I decided not to take Serevin. Would be very interested in hearing others experiences.

Hello Cowgirlsandy

From your post I see that you are looking for an air purifier system. I have a friend who lives in Alberta, she is a foster mom and one of the children she looks after had a child who has really bad asthma. He would wake through the night having such bad attacks the he had a very hard time to take his asthma medication. She was looking into the purchase of an air purifier and came across The Fresh Air - this system cleans 3000 square feet. She purchased the item and with in a few days the child was no long up through the night having asthma attacks and he is to the point now that he sometimes forgets he has asthma. I have also purchased the Fresh Air and have notice a big change in the air quality with in my home as well. I personal do not have asthma however we do have 2 cats and a dog and smokers in the home.

If you would like more information on this product you can email me. In making the decision to purchase this item I did a lot of research and have a lot of information that may help you in making an informed decision in the purchase of your our air purifier.

Yes there are some allergy product web sites and one did a review of air cleaners, beaware of the ones that put out ozone and do a google search. I hope this does not get edited out :
did the reviews but be careful of what you buy. So many brands put out Ozone and that can make asthma and allergies act up.
Good luck yeah

Don't worry Chartreux. The only websites that get edited out is the ones from spammers. If you have a beneficial website that you have no vested interest in and you think will be a help to members then by all means let us know.
