I was on advair 250/50 for about 4 years. It worked pretty well for me. My symptoms pretty much went away. I went off it about 6 months ago, and for the most part am still doing pretty good. I'm wondering how long do the residual effects of the drug stay with you? I've heard it could be up to 8 weeks. Anyone know? Same question for prednisone... If you do a short course, how long do the effects of the drug stay with you? I'm not talking side effects, I'm talking about the positive, desired effects of the drug.

Prednisone can stay in your system for up to a year. How long were you on it for. I was on it for 6 days in August and 3 days in September. How are you feeling?
Wish you good luck in getting off your medications.
Take care and keep us informed

I was on prednisone for several short courses a few years ago. I was just wondering in case I ever have to go on it again. I'm still feeling okay since being off advair. I've had a few troubles here and there during exercise, but I've managed to control it myself without medication. I certainly could have used a couple puffs of ventolin yesterday, but am happy to say i coped without using any.

:-)
Hi Everyone! I have been on Advair also for about 1 yr. It is the best I have been on. Fewer asthma episodes. I was just recently on Advair 250/50 for a year. Last month was having alot of trouble with asthma during the night. So my doctor put me on advair 500/50. That did stop the night time problems. Now I am on Prednisone for 7 days. Worsening of asthma due to Sinus Infection. I do not like prednisone. I do feel like it is helping. After I swallow the pill the taste is terrible. I took the pill tonight and vomitted 10 minutes later. Thanks.

That's awesome you were able to get off the Prednisone. I've never taken it but I hear it has some horrible side effects. So that means you are doing better then with your asthma?
