Hello,

I'm new to the forums, I been trying to find people who are experiencing what i am. I'll tell little bit about myself.

I have had allergy skin tests done 3 times and the Rast test done. Each time with skins tests showed Grasses, Trees, Cock Roaches, Mold and Dust Mites was at highest level they give.. Rast test showed Shrimp at highest level can be, Beef, Yeast,Dairy, Wheat, Egg's.

I Knew about shrimp before tests as i had went into anaphylactic shock from it.

I have tried Allergy shots twice.. First time being on it for 2 years and during time i was not able to get pass second level. They told me to wait a year then retest and try again. But due to my asthma they retested earlier and tried once again. This time again not able to go pass second level. I then waited another year, went through allergy tests once more and started the shot.. But this time the first level i had problems with so they made special low strenght dose. I took all those until last shot to go back into first level, But this time i started to go into anaphylactic shock in doctor's office.  So i was told i couldn't take the shots and my allergies are considered chronic. I also have to have a EPI Pen with me at all times...

I have had 3 sinuse surgeries due to the polups from my allergies, and access tissue closing off drain. So they drilled that out bigger. Aug 2006 I had nasal surgery to reconstruct my septum (center cartlidge part of nose) due to an perforation, from Nasal Spray Flonaze....

Right now i can't use any nasal sprays as spray can hurt cartlidge that is healing. I can use Allegra D but only if needed. As it dry's out sinuses and cartlidge and can harm it.

I came here hoping to meet others who going through same thing as me...

Hi, I'm not suffering as bad as you seem to be but I do have chronic allergies and have problems using the treatment for them, generally the treatment for one aggrivates another problem and it can be quite frustrating.

Have you tried antihistamine tablets? I have to take these daily for my rhinitis or I sneeze 24/7.

I'm looking into sea salt as a natural antihistamine at the mo and if you would like I can keep you updated on my findings.

Welcome nice to meet you Ghost
So sorry your going through such a rough time!
Have you asked your allergist about getting the dust mite free covers for your bed linen or do you have them already. Plus you must wash your linens in Hot water.
Have you removed the carpet from your bedroom ( my doctor suggested this one)
My doctor took me off the Flonase before I could have any problems with it,
I would urge everyone to go and get a CT of your sinus because if they are small certain nasal sprays can damage them.
Ghost I'm sorry the doctors let you down with that.
Another suggestion is asking your doctor about just regular Allergra paired with Non-Drying/non-Drowsy Sudafed. Might help a little better.
You are not at all alone
Read some of the other post and you might find help there!
((HUGZ))
I'm allergic to Dust Mites, Plant Molds, Dogs and now it seems certain Steroids, and no known foods yet.
I've had Asthma all my life
and I'm not a able to do allergy shots
Just trying to help
I go for allergy testing to medications on 12 December
Texas seems to be the shrimp and crawfish capitol and I just don't like it....

I had been taking regular Allergra until last visit. Changed me to D hoping it wouldn't dry me out as bad, Have tried sudafed, Claritin, Zyrtec you name it..

My husband and I had to go through classes on how to keep the house as dust free as possible. But since we rent we can't take out carpet. Our old house we had ripped all carpet out. Got all the linen. My Allergy doctor told me nothing more he can do and said ENT will have to handle it... I see 2 ENT's one of them once a month and other every 2 weeks, One is surgeon that speciallizes in ENT other is regular ENT... I too have Asthma, Hadn't had much problem with it until couple months ago. But when i had allergy tests done allergiest told me i would start having problems about time i did. We had moved here 2 years ago and he stated it takes 2 years for you to react to allergies within the area.

I also have many meds allergy which is a pain!! and i sneeze 24/7 but always have so i really don't notice it.. Other people have commited though.

Hello and Welcome Ghost

I haven't experience all that you have. I do have chronic sinusitis. Been told by doctor I should have sinus surgery. I am debating on that kind of surgery. As I have heard it doesn't always solve the problem. I have chronic Rhinitis. I take prescription nasal spray. It has worked wonders for me. Usually before being on the nasal spray I was congested alot. Now, I don't experience half the congestion as before. Big improvement. I have problems with post nasal drip. I also have Asthma, and Vasomotor Rhinitis. I would suggest for you to try Sinus Rinses. You, can purchase the kit in

any pharmacy or drug store. The work by cleaning the sinuses out and they feel much better after the rinse. A suggestion. Best wishes! :-)

Your right that you have severe allergies. Dust is everywhere and probably the hardest allergy for you to aviod at work and at home, even a glass house would hold dust.
I get congested at places we go to that I start to rub my nose and don't even notice it. My husband has a lot of books and paperwork at his office and these things are just dust magnets but, he uses them for his job.so I don't visit him there to often.
The Dust Allergy is just so very frustrating.
Hope you'll find something that'll help you out, and if you do please post it for all!
Take Care
Nice to meet you

:-) Hello Everyone!Ghost I have another suggestion that may be helpful. There is a nasal spray called Ocean mist. It helps to moisturize nasal passages. That may help you. I hope things are getting better for you. You could ask your doctor for the prescription medication NASONEX. It help with congestion and allergies for the nose. Have a good day.

I do use Ocean Mist does help allot.. But have to be careful not to spray it towards center.. They had me use Neti Pot for while to help moisturize. I have used Nasonex before can't remember how it worked.. May ask ENT again about it when see him tomorrow. Right now i'm doing 5 days certian med then changing it to another for 5 days to find out what one helps out most.. Sudafed so far been best, but it also dry's me out.

I use Ocean mist 15 to 20 times aday along with Vasaline and neosprin.
