Hi,

I have had reacurring sinus infections for the past 6 months. (Atleast we think they are sinus infections)  I have major pain in my upper teeth and jaw, post nasal drip, sore throat, ear pain and itching, and sometimes fever.  The antibiotics would help at first, but after the 3rd or so infection they kinda just stopped working.  I had a ct scan done and they said my sinuses are not blocked.  I went to the ENT and they put that thingy up my nose and said they couldnt see anything, but I still have all these symptoms.  I was tested for allergies (mostly mold, grasses, pets) and wasn't allergic to a thing.  The drs. just dont know what to do next.  Right now im using flonase and astalin.  These dont seem to help much. Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do next?  I also have had stiffness, pain, and swelling in my fingers and toes.  The dr tested me for Rheumatoid Arthritis but it was negative.  Now he is testing me for scleroderma and some other things.  I was wondering if anyone knew if my sinuses and finger problems could be related?

Lor78,
Hi, I am so sorry for your suffering without a diagnosis. I have been going through sort of the same thing.....arrrrr. I know what it is like. Except mine are sores in my nostrils. They come and go, but they hurt real bad. I get the headaches and all. I have been put on antibiotics four times now. They started in the beginning of August 06. I thought it was due to taking the enbrel and so did my Reumy so I had to quit the enbrel..but it was after only two treatments, then I had to wait till I was done with antibiotics, then he started me again, same thing happened, so he took me off the enbrel. So now I still cannot get the right treatment for my RA until we figure out what is going on with this. ..They go away for just a couple of days then they're back. I know you said sinus infection.....and yes my teeth, jaws and ears hurt. My whole face swelled and was pink..It was so bad I took pictures. My doctor giggled and said why are you taking pics? it's only a little skin infection. I wanted to cry. Boy did I let him have it. He actually sat down in his chair and listened. I have been through severe pain with this. So, I am on antibiotics as of yesterday, AGAIN. So still I am searching for someone with the same symptoms... Do you get sores in the nose? Have you thought maybe it could be caused from your teeth? I sure hope they figure it out and if they do Please!give me a heads up...

smurf  Welcome and hello everyone!

Lor78, I am sorry to hear about your medical situation. I wonder what is going on medically with you. It does sound like sinus trouble. Maybe you have Nasal Polps. Do you suffer from Migraine headaches? Could you possible have a bad tooth. That can cause sinus like pain the the face. I have had sinus trouble since I was a teenager. So, I definetly know some information on sinus disease. Usually when I get a sinus infection I take 8 week course of antibotics. Otherwise, the infection does not go away. I also take a very effective medication called NASONEX nasal spray. I also suffer from Asthma, which is is good control currently. When ever my sinuses are acting up then my asthma acts up. Do you tend to get alot of Post Nasal drainage? I get that when I have a sinus infection. Have you tried Sinus rinses? can get them in any pharmacy or drug store. I have used them and they are helpful. I sometimes use a nose moisturizer called Ocean. That is helpful also. I also have Vasomotor Rhinitis.

Medications:

Advair Diskus 500/50

Nasonex

Albuterol Inhaler
