A few weeks ago I had alot of nasal congestion ...filling up constantly and having to blow my nose to clear it ...really bad at night...

After almost 3 weeks that seemed to get better...BUT then I began having this weird smell in my nostrils.... like cigarette smoke confused

I smell it all the time ...at home , at work, while out, in bed ...wherever!

I kept thinking my son was smoking cigarettes ...he denied it yeah ...then I thought "okay, you must be around someone who smokes" ...he denied that too since he said he had just showered and had on clean clothes...

then i realized it was not just at home I was smelling it ...

I am baffled and it is really annoying ..

I dont have any other issues with my sinus, or nose going on ...at least not that I know of eyes

anyone ????

What sort of meds are you taking for your CD and other ailments? Sometimes certain meds can alter our sense of smell. Also too, if this continues, you might want to head for the doctor because I have heard and read that odd smells can possibly be a neurological symptom.

:-) I don't have any clue why you would be smelling that. It is strange. Like Red said it might have something to do with your medications your taking. Otherwise maybe it is something that is irritating your nose Good Luck. Best Wishes! Brandi.

I did a little research on the internet and the only things I could find about odd smells are mental disorders such as schizophrenia (sp?), reduction in psych meds, aura migraines or epilepsy. I couldn't find anything in regards to the burning smell and allergies/asthma.

Celia are tiny hairs in our nostrils that purifies the air before it enters the lungs.  The celia also warms the cold air before entering our lungs.  Try just using nasal saline about 3 times a day (about 2 sprays each nostril).  That might just help ... you may just have a sinus infection or nasal congestion that is making your ability to smell be "off" a little.  Good luck! yeah tongue

Do you have headaches or migraines?.....if you don't there is a such thing as you not feeling that you have a migraine or headache if you r smelling smoke! I will ask my mom she is in med school and she knows a lot! :)
