I have cough variant asthma and post nasal drip and I cough every morning. My peak flow is always 450 during the day and 420 in the morning. Even though I don't feel short of breath I still cough and it's annoying. My allergist says I can take a preventer med if I want. I have atrovent inhaler I use sometimes.

Can someone please tell me a low dose preventer inhaler that doesn't have a ton of side effects and long term problems? I don't like to take meds, because  I think they cause symptoms to worsen over time, or cause other problems. I'm really looking for the lowest dose of something that will control the morning cough. Liz
