I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what symptoms I would have if I were allergic to soy.  Also  I take zyrtec  could that be masking any of the symptoms?

Hi and welcome to the Allergy side of HW :)

Zyrtec can definately hide some of the allergic manifestations of a soy allergy such as hives/rashes, stuffy nose - typical allergy symtpoms. The best thing you can do to rule out a soy allergy is to be seen by a specialist. Soy allergies also can manifest them selves in gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting. Soy is found in many food products so if you want to try and eliminate this from your diet, this website should prove helpful in finding what contains soy:

Thanks, I am trying to rule out whats got my allergies and uc so whacked out. I have eaten soy for a few years because the uc doc told me to eliminate diary. Maybe I've developed an allergy to it, maybe its something else. I do need to get it checked out. I suspect diet and year round allergies in my uc , allergy , and asthma flare. thanks again for the advice
