about a week ago Ive been waking up to the urge to cough. Then about 4 days ago it would be a wheeze, and id have to cough more...even throughout the day, but nothing too hectic. Here is what is bothering me:

I did get get a sore throat first.

I do not have a runny nose.

I can breathe fine..I can exercise and feel that I am getting a full breath

I don't have a fever.

I just have to cough all the time. I have been taking many herbal wellness supplements to help control what ever I might have. Could it be a minor infection of the bronchus or something further up.

Yesterday I coughed some goop up that was a clear white color.

I appreciate any help. I am 16 by the way, and my family, I dont think, have a history of it.

Oh yeah, our house might have some mold (leaky balconys)...and seems to be pretty dusty. My mom became sick over the last 2 years with interstitial lung disease, and some swollen finger pain deal.

sad

Hi and welcome to Healingwell :) My son has coughing asthma but the way he describes it is that when he has his coughing fits, it's because he can't get a full breath and feels he has to cough. He normally has to resort to his inhaler for times like that. It can be the beginning of asthma or it can be allergies. It's best to be seen by the doctor for a correct diagnoses. Do you have dust in your room? If so, start there and dust your room but do so with a mask to prevent any triggers. Do you have animals? Do you keep your windows open? You can also try helping your mother out and help her clean house (with a mask again) because if your house is dusty, not only will dusting help you but it will help your mother too.

I agree with Sherry, you need to see an asthma/allergy doctor. A cough does not always mean you have asthma. Try to stay calm and go to the doctor. Keep us posted

Hi. I gave it a few more days and after taking: green tea extract, herbal wellness, multi vit pills, more green tea...I have gotten better significantly.

Im still baffled by how I was coughing up things left and right, but could get a full breath. Peculiar.

Im just worried about the dust and mold in my house.

Ah what to give for a dust free home:)

No offense EJ but you have two hands and two feet yes? You're old enough........help your mom and dust the house (with a mask). A dust free home is almost impossible the best we can do is minimize the dust. Another thing to try is using cheeseclothe on the heating vents - this will help trap dust and other allergens. Also make sure you have a hypoallergenic filter on your furnace. These are fairly inexpensive at your local hardware store.
