I am so glad I found you guys - I'm running out of options here. I have had mild asthma for several years - usually in response to others smoking - and quickly fixed with a couple of tugs on my inhaler.
In January I had a bad cold that lasted for three weeks. Since early February I have been suffering miserably with asthma symptoms and nothing seems to make it budge! The doc has had me on two courses (different) of antibiotics (she suspected pneumonia or bronchitis) and a ten day course of prednisone. Nothing helps. I'm still wheezing 24/7, have chest tightness and pain in the upper back (under the right shoulderblade), and am dizzy and lightheaded to the point I am wary of driving. My voice is also very raspy, and I am tired all the time.
I went to the ER last week when I got panicky because I felt I wasn't getting any air. They ran the whole gamut of tests - blood, clotting, heart, chest xrays, spinal xrays, urine. All they found was my BP was a little elevated.
What do I do next? I have an appointment with my Dr. next Monday afternoon. Should I ask to see an allergist or a respirologist?
I was thinking of applying to become one of those kinky phone-in ladies lol. With my heavy breathing and raspy voice I should make a mint :o) I am trying to stay positive (as you can see lol) but it is hard to stay upbeat.
Any suggestions - I will try anything (well as long as it's legal lol)
Thanks, and pleased to meet you all.
