Are you still coughing? Do you ever feel short of breath? So you were saying that you had a chest cold 2 years ago and this feeling is still there after all this time? Does it happen a lot or when you do specific tasks?

Hi red, it all started withn a chest cold, the doc said I had allergies, it would bother me a littleonce and awhile, but yesterday it felt like my lungs were on fire,I wheez a bunch and smoke too much, I keep a stuffy nose and my ears always ring and feel full...the pain in my lungs has only happened twice, feels like when you were a kid and ran in the cold....that lung burn....and of course it gets my anxiety all fired up mad    it;s pretty miserable.....the only time I get short of breath is doing walking or something like that...seems I wheez more also

It sounds like it could be asthma or any other number of respitory diseases. It's best to get checked out by a pulmonologist or a respitory therapist because if it something as serious as asthma, you could be damaging your lungs by not properly controlling it. I'm sure you've heard this many times as most smokers have, but you really should quit. Have you been to a doctor at all for the lung burn? I know what you're talking about since I have that right now, I've got a head cold that went into my chest (drs call for me tomorrow!). If you go see a doc about this, be sure to bring up this symptom because if you just say that your nose and ears are full, they may not treat you properly.

The very first time my lungs ached, it just happened out of the blue....I coughed and they hurt a little, then I coughed harder and they hurt like heck for a solid day, when I went to the doc, he asked if i had any ear problems, at the time I didnt so I said no, he then told me my ear tubes were swollen and that I had allergies, now my ears are always bothering me, and every once in a while my lungs will hurt just a little, but not as bad as yesterday and the first time.......I'm a basket case when it comes to getting sick, I always think the worst, and every ache and pain I think the worst, I am pretty sure that my smoking is partly at fault, I get winded pretty easy and when I breath hard through my mouth my lungs ache a little, I'm a skinny guy, 6 foot 150, and have always had great health until this mess started 2 years ago, mad     thank you and hippy girl for answering my questions, it's a great relief to talk about it

You are more then welcome to talk about what ever is troubling you. That's what a support forum is for! :) Don't worry, I'm sort of the same way when it comes to my health. Every little ache and pain I automatically think something bad is happening. I've managed to overcome the majority of this problem and I found that use the internet to look these things up, I'm a true basket case!

But definately have this checked out. Burning lungs is not a sign of allergies. Your ears and congestion, most definately can be allergy related. I do believe you have something going on for sure, but to what I have no idea and neither will you until you get checked out properly. But please try not to fret. Even if it's something such as asthma, it can be controlled with the proper medications and precautions.

That "foggy new age bong thing" is your nebulizer.  Too funny!
