Hello everyone, Hope everyone is doing well. The reason I can over to this forum is that I had a chest Xray that showed mild hyperinflation of my lungs. I have seached online about it but am still unsure as to what it is? Calling my MD was almost useless. He wouldn't even come to the phone. He had his receptionist tell my it was mild asthma. I got to get a new PCP. Is it a sympton of asthma? If anyone can shed some light on it I would appreciate it. Thanks for any info. :-) Pink Grandma

Hi Pink,

I am 56 years old and had the onset of severe asthma 5-6 years ago.  I have been through a lot with my asthma and I have not clue what this doctor is talking about.  I would definitely get a new doctor.

What type of symptoms are you having?  Why did you get the chest x-ray?  And if you have even mild asthma, is he not going to at least give you an inhaler to be prepared in case of an emergency?  I would definitely change doctors.  If I can be of any more help, feel free to ask.  I'm not a doctor, just an asthma patient.

Take care!

Carla

Thank you for responding Carla, I went to him because I was tired of living on Ibuprofen. I have been running low grade fevers for months. And was always tired and sleepy. ( I had told him about the fevers numerous of times.) I do have a cough but I smoke. ( Plan to quit soon.) My visit was suppose to be a physical. I got there at 9:55am for my 10am appointment. I was walking out to my car at 10:10am. Physical ...right!!!! He sent me for the chest xray I think just to shut me up. I called to find out the results twice or I am sure I would have never heard a thing back. I do plan to get another Primary Care Physician soon.
The xray did show that there was no pneumonia or any mass though. I just don't know if this is serious enough for me to be to be referred to a pulmonary doctor or not. I don't know hardly anything about lung diseases. But I guess it's about time I learned huh? Thanks again Carla............Pink Grandma

I agree get yourself another Doctor. After you've gotten another doctor send the other-bad doctor a note "You where such a compassionate Doctor, that I couldn't handle it anymore and got another Doctor!" It might wake that bad Doctor up.... Keep us posted as to how you doing okay and good luck with the new doctor. Any illness in an older adult is cause for concern so please seek medical help...........
