I am usually on the Lyme forum, but  I also have an allergy problem. I have developed allergies to eggs, milk, peanuts and other things from Lymes autoimmune problems. For a year now I have had a burning tongue and mouth when I eat certain foods, and wear lipstick. I have tried natural organic lipstick but still it burns when I use it. I have been tested for candida and it was negative. Has anyone out there experienced this??? The sides and tip of the tongue burn as well as the inside of the lips and lips themselves. It comes and goes even when I eat other things that I am not allergic too it feels like I have eaten hot pepper or scolded from hot liquid. Thanks for any feedback on this, Laura

Yes I am anemic because in addition to Lyme I have tick-borne babesia which is a parasite that invades the blood cells. I am on meds for it since april. How does anemia have anything to do with burning. Thanks for the reply.

Pernisous Anemia can cause burning of the tongue & mouth.

Do you also have white spots, swelling on the tongue and/or painfull red areas?  I am still recovering from oral lichen planus and I basically had to see several types of doctors and kind of figure it out for myself.  The best medication so far has been prednisone.  Also, not to worry you, but if you have the above symptoms you may consider having an oral surgeon do a biopsy just to rule out what OLP can become if not treated.  I also will be seeing a doctor in a few days about a possible endoscopy.  Biotene sensitive (not mint) toothpaste and mouthwash have also been great and don't burn.  Good luck.

gtmriviera, Thanks for the info, no I don't have what you describe. Actually the burning only happens when I eat certain things or put lipstick on, then it goes away after a few hours.. LLMD says it is allergy from autoimmune screwups from lyme.

I did not have any information on this subject, but I think it is simply amazing what we can learn from each other here.
