I really dont know what this is......yesterday I had mucus or something in my lungs and I tried to cough it out but it wouldnt come out I would feel it rattle up and down and when I inhaled it would go deep making this really nasty squeaking sound, but it just wont come out and I stopped trying to cough it out because it hurt so much...Its about 5:00 in the morning and I just couldnt sleep I woke up just not being able to breathe fully it hurt SO MUCH when I inhaled and coughing sounded so quiet and painful that nothing would come out at all. So I took a shower with warm water and Ide like to think it helped but I really dont know I cant breathe in fully at all it hurts to and its like my lungs wont let me anyway...breathing out takes a while and hurts when I try to fuly exhale .......its just annoying what is this??? I swear it feels like someone else is in there breathing redface sad It doesnt really feel like asthma It may be but its wierd...it doesnt get worse it just hurts a lot and makes me wheeze...idk... help anybody? pweeeez

Hi Beany, welcome to Healingwell. Were you ever diagnosed with asthma? If not then it could be a chest infection such as bronchitis. I used to get chronic bronchitis and that is what it felt like to me too, like I had a rattle in my chest but unlike you, normally just coughing would settle the ratttle. You should see a doctor but in the meantime, you can try Robitussin for chest congestion. Plus, I'm not sure who makes it, but there is a tablet you can put in your shower (on the floor) that when the water hits it makes a menthol vapor - that in combination with steam might clear your lungs up a bit.
