I was having major jaw pains for the last few months. I was taking one claritin per day and I pump flonanse per side a night. I decided to stop taking both, since I felt they werent helping cause I still had the pain/pressure. After just 2 days, the pain/pressure in the jaw has decreased significantly (sp?)I feel the pain/pressure could be related to the use of the claritin and or the flonase. Im going to stay off the meds and see what happens. I feel great the last 2 days and mentally my mood has improved! I just wanted to post my findings and see if anyone else has ever stopped thier meds and found out they feel better.

If this continues to improve I will let ya all know.

Best regards to all :-)

Sinus problems are well known for causing jaw pain. Sometimes every single tooth can hurt as well.

Its now close to a week since I havent taken anything. I have no pain/pressure. Im not even sure after reading this board if I even needed what I was taking. I first told the doc about the ringing in my ears that was driving me nuts,so his thought was take the claritin. I tried that for awhile, cant remember if it even helped. After a sinus infection the ringing was driving me insane again, so he added the flonase.

Over the last 6 months or more, I have seen my dentist so much, she has been great about seeing me last min. anytime I would ask her to take a peek and make sure it wasnt a dental issue, it never was.

Needless to say, this was driving me crazy and I wasnt getting anywhere with the regular doc and the meds. I was surfing looking for answers and found a web site about drugs and peoples comments on some reactions to meds they have found. I did see a few people comment about the jaw pain with flonase and a few with the claritin. I know the drug co doesnt have this as a reaction to thier meds, but it this point I figured might as well try not taking the meds and see if just maybe, it was the meds.

I do know that sinus issues will and can cause dental pain, but Im not so sure if I need these meds now or not.

Jo, I do think there are times I also grind my teeth and Im going to ask the doc about a pretty guard at night. I know I dont always do it,but for the times I know Im a little tense,I might try it. I have nothing to loose.

I want to thank you both for commenting on this, as Im still trying to see what happens now. If the ringing starts to drive me insane again, Im going to make a ENT appt, since I dont think my primary doc really knows anything about this.

For now..Im in a wait and see mode.

Thanks again for giving me some feedback!

Sweetie, the ENT is a good idea. You could have middle-ear problems and may need a different kind of treatment. Have you heard of ETD (eustachian tube dysfunction)? It can cause ringing in the ears, as can other kinds of drugs, especially antibiotics and aspirin.

Don't wait too long to see an ENT because if it's ETD it can lead to hearing loss if it's not treated. Treatment is usually grommets, like little kids have in their ears.

I'm not an expert, just BTDT :-)
