Hello all,

my son is 5 and was diagnosed about five months ago. We had it under control then didnt and now he is on advair twice a day and albuterol for breakthrus...he had went a whole week without using the albuterol once. Now he got a cold and coughs and coughs and coughs especially at night time. I dont know if I should call the dr and go in again..he did say if he got a cold it would be worse. But how often can I give albuterol he had said if its bad at nigth give two doses an hour apart but then what.......can I give over the counter cold meds too. I am so tired and lost and tired of coughing I know my poor boy cant help it but I feel so helpless and dont know what to do. Its cold season and I dont want him coughing for the next four months his school will suffer and all of us . Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

My son has coughing asthma too and the doc ok'd him to use Robitussin for his nightime episodes. You can try that or if you can, try just calling the doc to see what he/she suggests. Oh and btw, welcome to Healingwell and I hope your little guy gets better soon. I know it's rough not only on the child but the parents as well, been there and done that!
