i have woke in the middle of the night and in the morning having a panic attack, my heart is racing and my chest is tight, and i am shaking. i take a beta blocker and a high blood pressure med plus my anxiety meds , i guess they might have to up my heart meds i don't know.

dx gad and social anxiety

Hey there machelle. I gotta tell you, the same thing use to happen to me. I'd wake up every single morning faithfully between 5:30 am and 6 a.m. in a full blown panic attack. I don't know why, but it happened. I'd have the racing heart, tight chest, shaking, and the whole 9 yards...then, I went on Klonopin, and thank God it stopped. I don't take high blood pressure medicine, so I can't relate to that, I just wanted to let you know that I have been where you are, and I know it is scary, and how horrible it is.

I've been there too.  I'd wake up every morning at exactly 4am and was miserable with panic, shaking, just terrified and alone.  I'd get up and take my meds and sit and watch tv until everyone else got up and got ready to leave.  It was the worst feeling, the anxiety was so bad, and to be up alone in the cold and dark was awful.  I would talk to your doctor about upping your meds if you think that will help.  One bit of good news is that it did pass in time and I now sleep through the night with no problems and wake up feeling good.  Hang in there, this will pass.  Keep posting here and letting all of us know how you are.

I used to wake up like that every morning.  It was awful (understatement). I went to a psych and she made me get up every morning and go to the gym, no matter how terrified I felt.  It was a bit extreme but after about two months I just did it automatically and now I don't wake up with panic anymore, I just get up and go to the gym. 

It is heaven to have no waking anxiety.  This may be a bit too much for you (if you have more important things to do in the morning!) but I suggest, you just get up, try and ignore the panic and get into a routine that you are not allowed to break out of even if you are panicking.  It really freed me!!
