I'm on Prozac (have been for I think a month now) and Xanax when I need it. I have to say I've noticed a real improvement in my mood in general. I don't wake up with my mind racing and heart pounding, work doesn't feel like an endurance test anymore, and just generally feel more content and "normal," whatever that is, I know it's different for everybody. I look back to how I was a 6 weeks ago and the difference is like night and day. So what meds are you on for your anxiety/panic, and have you had good results? I'm very happy with these meds and encourage anyone to give them a try. My only worry is will I have to be on these medications forever? I'm really starting to believe this condition has more to do with a chemical imbalance in my brain as opposed to some sort of emotional disturbance like I first thought it was.

Well I hope you all are doing good, I really like this website.

Hey there, I am so glad to hear you are feeling better.  I have the combo, Anxiety and Depression.  I am on Cymbalta and it is suppose to cover the anxiety but I have to take a benzo with it.  Right now I am on Valium as it is the longer acting of the benzo drugs.
Please remember you have anxiety, it does not have you.  With a lot of practice you can learn to control a lot of your anxiety.

Thanks for posting such good news, it's really great to hear you are feeling so much better.  I'd suggest that if the meds are working for you don't worry too much about them.  I have been on and off xanax and valium for ten years (antideps don't do it for me!!) and I don't feel like it's a "life sentence" or anything.  I just go on them for a few months as needed and stop when I'm not having anxiety.  I've gone for up to two years on no meds and then back on as needed, no shame in that!!

Again, so happy you have found something that helps and thanks for the positive post, I'm sure it will halp many people xx

I alone can do this, but I cannot do it alone.
