geez, the goverment is so messed up, when me and my husband where hit by hurricane rita, our credit card company at that time decided to jack our interest rates up to 29% yeh and we never ever missed a payment, and they where also allowed to double our minimum payment too, so we where forced in to chapter 13, and they did this to home owners too, doesn't it make since to cut the credit card off till lowered and they get paid and keep the interest rate lower ,or make it impossible to pay so they loose or we down the road pay it again, what is happening now is their own stupid fault and were going to pay. sorry to talk about this but it makes me mad, and if we bail them out who is going to keep them from doing it again. mad

Sorry to hear you've had so much trouble.

It's probably a good thing I got rid of cable, I'm pretty much completely disconnected from what's going on these days. I don't get to talk to anyone about current events and the radio is totally useless for news. I use to be a news junkie too but I really don't need anymore stress.

Bankruptcy might be the only way I can stay in my home at the moment. Tie it up in court for a couple of years. It's going to look weird, I'm actually not in debt, my bills are paid but almost everything is still in Mother's name. (Just notice I have a OCD about capitalizing the word Mother. Hmm.)

My friend told me the other day someone advertised for a midnight to 5AM donut cook here in town and a couple hundred people showed up. Not a good time to be unemployed, wonder if that made the news?

Good Morning,

I have my whole pension plan in investments.  The news is not good news these days but I try to stay in the moment as I do not have control over the market but I do have control over me.  I will survive no matter what.

I read this on one of the other forums...........posted by a moderator.

I do understand your anxiety, fears and anger that this is happening but we will make it through this tough time.

Sherrine said...Nearly all my money that I have on the face of this earth is in the stock market.  I'm not stressing yet.  I'm watching very closely what is happening but we have a very resilient nation.  We have come through a Revolution, a Civil War, a stock market crash, etc. and came out on top.  Our nation's strength is in it's working people and we have a "never give up" attitude. It may be rough for a little bit but we will come out on top...we always do.
Some of you are too  young to remember this, but in 1985, I think, (maybe 1987) the market went down 25% in one day!  Today, the market went down 7%.  So, hang tough ladies and gentlemen!  You may have to tighten your belts a little bit, but we will be fine.  Stressing about it won't change a thing except make you hurt more.  Just pretend you are on a surf board and ride the waves.

Financial concerns are one of the biggest stressors ever. They really do hit right down at the heart of surviving: having food and shelter. I have chosen to become more frugal recently (good influence from my fiance) and am trying not to worry about what the future will bring when he can no longer work and I have to support both of us, including the mortgage and medical bills. I can't completely ignore the looming burden, though.

Buddha, good luck to you in getting your finances settled in a way that lets you keep your house. There have got to be solutions out there, possibly the bankrupty idea.

Machelle and all, hang in there while we wait for this latest financial storm to pass over us. I surely hope it will be soon.
