Whats wrong with me??? Opinions please!!!!

Hey everyone!! I really would like some opinions on what is wrong with me!! I honestly dont even know where to start!!!! I has always been a worrier, and had thoughts and fears over really stupid things. I have had panic attacks before, I always think that something is wrong with me. I just feel "weird" like spacy and out of it, not able to concentrate, I feel very overwhelmed with everything, I feel like things in my life just arent right or something??? I am 7 months pregnant and will be having my 2nd child in March, but the way that I feel really scares me!!!! This baby was planned but it seems like as soon as I got my positive pregnancy test my anxiety went through the roof or something!! I started having a really fast hartrat so my doc sent me to cardiologist to have an echo and that was good. My doc did bloodwork and that was all fine, I have had my thyroid checked several times and that was good. I just feel like I feel strange, I cant explain it!! I have had so many worries with this pregnancy but I havent had any actual problems. I have been obsessed about my blood pressure lately and I dont know why, Its always normal but I still go to the store and check it and practically have a panic attack before I check it. I feel my pulse constantly. I started nursing school yesterday and we were practicing taking blood pressures and the girl taking mine was getting readings of like 110/60's which I know is normal but then I kept thinking that maybe it was too low, so I started getting hot and feeling faint which made me think my blood pressure was low. The way my brain thinks is just so stupid!!! Lately I always just fear and think I am going to just faint or something although I never have. My hands are sweaty alot, I mean where they are actually wet. Last night I was lying down and getting ready for bed and I felt my pulse and it was like 65 and that freaked me out b/c I was thinking that was too low. This morning I got up and my leg was aching and I was getting ready for school and the thought of a blood clot crossed my mind, I know that it was probably because I am pregnant and was still really tired, but my mind just jumps to the worst possible case all the time!! I always feel weird, my brain feel weird, I cant concentrate, I just feel somewhat out of it!!! I dont know if this crap is all in my head or what!! I just feel nervous, anxious and scared all the time!!!!!!!! I hope you all can give me some advice and help me, am I going crazy or something??????

Hi Angela,

You are not crazy. You may be suffering from GAD (generalised anxiety disorder) which makes you worry about, well, pretty much everything!

"Generalised Anxiety Disorder is one of the ‘anxiety disorders’. A person with GAD is in astate of constant anxiety over many aspects of their life - relationships, work, health, familyand/or finances. Just about anything that a person can think about - they worry about.The concerns are ongoing, extreme and unrealistic. The person feels worried and anxious most of the time."

I find with GAD I get over worrying about one thing and BAM! The next thing comes up. It can be health, it can be study, family anything at all. It's annoying, but it sounds like you have a lot going on in your life right now and one of the most important things is to be aware of your symptoms. It's not "just in your head" but you can control the anxiety by using your head, and your body..what tools do you use against the anxiety? Have you tried CBT? I find writing down my worries (journalling) is a great way to help me see how unrealistic some of them can be. It's okay to be health aware when you are pregnant, but make sure you don't become obsessed! I hope we can help you out a little with this. Many of us have GAD here, you are in good company.

I agree with Meg, it sounds like gad to me as well.  You may want to talk to your doctor about it at your next appt.  There's alot of great information here on this site that can help you to understand what is going on in the meantime. 
I understand that out of it, fuzzy head feeling very well, it's been a part of my anxiety symptoms for a very long time.  Stress, anxiety and feeling overwhelmed can definitely cause you to feel out of it and you certainly sound stressed.  Talk to your doctor and see what he/she has to say.

Hi Angela,

This is Kitt.   Wow you have a large amount on your plate.  Starting nursing school is stressful.  I know I have been there and had 4 children at home.

IMHO it seems you are having issues with Health Anxiety and what your learning in school is keeping the topic in the front of your mind.

Before practcing BP/P do they not teach you normal readings.

Health Anxiety: refers to an excessive preoccupation or worry about having a serious illness. Often,  health anxiety persists even after a physician has evaluated a person and reassured him/her that his/her concerns about symptoms do not have an underlying medical basis.

Always stay in touch with your physician as we are not professionals.

Bless you and practice staying in the moment...........do not worry about the past and the future will take care of itself.

Hi Angela.

You are not crazy. I agree with Meg and Kitt about the GAD and Health Anxiety. I go through this myself and have been working CBT which really helps me and lots of others on this forum :) Going through so much in your life right now would make anyone feel anxious and you will be okay :) I also understand about the hot flashes and faint feeling also. It is lack of oxygen from not breathing properly. There are links in our resources at the top of the page that have all these techniques we have been describing :)

You are in good hands here. I'm sure some more folks will be on here to give some excellent adivice.

Hello! I agree. You are suffering from anxiety. Please try to calm down for the benefit of yourself and the baby. Also, I think therapy would help a lot. Take it easy and know you're healthy, just stressed.

I agree with Meg and think you have the symptoms of GAD but as Kitt said talk it over with your doctor. I have GAD and i seem to worry about every thing even small silly things which i then blow out of proportion. As the other members have said CBT has good results with people with anxiety disorders and the right combination of medication and therapy has good results. I have had CAT which is similar to CBT but looks more at the causes of your anxiety rather than how to deal with your anxiety. I have some CBT coming up which will hopefully give me the skills to control my anxiety so that it does not effect me as much.
