Does anyone know of any vitamins that have been proven to help aid anxiety and panic, especially around that time of the month? I've heard B-Complex is supposed to help anxiety so i started taking that with my multi. I notice that my panic attacks almost always occur a week before/after my period, then subside. any ideas on foods/vitamins to help curb this? and vitamins in general? Thanks!

I have heard the B-Complex vitamins help, too. Also, cut down on sweets and caffeine. Doing this will improve your feelings. I had a friend who found calcium tablets helped her calm down.

Hi there,

I swear by Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc daily. Plus a good once a day multivitamin.

Also watch you sodium intake, try to keep it down.

cool, i just bought magnesium as i heard that could help, too. i'll try it out. as for sweets i just ate a cookie and should know better! but they just brought some into our office :)

i did cut down on caffeine and that seems to be helping as well. i still do love that morning cup of coffee but now i either have chai tea or just a smaller cup of joe.

thanks!

I usually stay off of your feminine threads but I just wanted to say that I am so glad to be a man! Kudos to you ladies going through even more stuff that causes the anxiety and other things to flare up more. . . Could not imagine :)

Sam! You are lucky!!

I find that B vitamins and Zinc are great and also evening primrose oil. Nikki, I give my self full permission to eat chocolate at that time of the month! No guilt!

Most doctor's don't to much testing of your blood work for vitamins deficiencies like that of vitamin B12 and folic acid which is needed for making blood cells and to help with neurological problems in are nervous systems.

Please look up (B12 and anxiety) on the net for more info on this and ask your doctor for an vitamin deficiencies blood test and it is more important for those of you that are vegetarians to have this checked

nikki i'm not sure but i think the craving for sweets has something to do with blood sugar and perhaps even depression around that time. maybe sweets are like a perk to those grumpy, crampy, days. as for magnesium, i hear differing opinions too - what frustrates me is as with any vitamin, medication, remedy, what have you, there never seems to be a clear answer or a right or wrong. i guess it's about finding what works for YOU. i hate taking pills of any kind though (i even get weirded out taking new vitamins, which is silly) so i wish there were just a clear answer at times!

Sam - hahahah. thanks for being brave enough to come in and give us some kudos!

Meg - i've never heard of evening primose as a remedy! i'll look into that. that's what's so great about the internet!

Freezing in AK - i need to schedule my yearly physical soon so i think i'm going to ask my doctor to please include the vitamin deficiency test. that plus i was also thinking of visiting a nutritionist.

I hear Vitamin D does wonders. I just started 4000 IU (whatever that means) and have been on it for almost a week. Still the same, but I DIDN'T have a panic attact from taking it which is a good thing ;)

I also take YAZ and skip my period. I only have it once every 3 or 4 months.
