I am pleased to report that I have a new job writing for my own blog pertaining to Anxiety, Health and other issues.  This makes me very happy, because for years I have always wanted to be a writer and have felt like a failure because of my lack of initiative and commitment. . . I used to judge myself by not having an "old fashioned" bound novel written, but I finally grew up.  I realize that to be a writer, it does not mean having a book published anymore in our new era of technology and the internet, so a good friend of mine that just moved back into town is helping me set up a new website to start my blog/s.  And I've started writing an Ebook as well.  I wanted to share the good news, because it has been you all that inspired me to move forward and I don't want some traditional novel now. . . I just want to do things to help others.  I have to admit the making money part is awesome as well, lol.
Thank you all for the inspiration!
On another note I wanted to share with you all something that I started participating in last year.  It may seem off topic to some, but I don't see it that way because the environmental troubles we are experiencing causes me much anxiety and I know I'm not alone.  Anyway, last year I joined a group called Earth Hour that has a goal of teaching people to use less energy and commits to having people, businesses and cities the world over to turn off their lights for one hour yearly (may be more this year).  This years start is on March 28, 2009 and we will be shutting down our main power for at least one hour starting 8:30PM that night.  We are also offering incentives to our tenants to do the same, and I plan on helping our community to get organized for this event.  It is a wonderful project and I hope to see more people get involved.  The link is below with no cost or obligation.  Just sign up and be part of the global team!
Much love, hugs, peace and comfort!

You mentioned energy saving power strips for electrical and I was thinking surge strips...........what were you referring to?

Hey Green Grove; how wonderful for you. I've always wanted to write too, and I think that starting a blog is a wonderful thing for you to do. The reason I am coming into this thread is that on the sidebar, I note this post with my birthdate of March 28, and wondered what
was happening on that day. I think this is effort is a wonderful start to helping the environment; I think my boyfriend might be aflliated with this group but if not, we'll join and on that 50th birthday....we'll turn off our power for an hour to celebrate. :-)

Remicade - will have my 27th infusion on March 19 Vitamin B-12/Biotin, Probiotics

Hey Sainted Sis :)
I was referring to shuting down the main power switch on our breaker box for Earth Day, and I had also mentioned that we put all of our appliances on the Surge "Power" Strips so we can turn them off when they are not in use to save money and help the environment as well :)  Thanks for the thumbs up on my writing as well because I'm just very contented with this :)
Hi Carol :)
Thanks for the encouragement!  I am so happy :)  Earth Day would be a wonderful thing to celebrate for you Bday. . . You could light candles and have a romantic evening with your boyfriend, or maybe just have some old fashioned fun with friends :)  Take care and have a blast for your 50th!

Sam, congratulations on the writing job.  I'm sure you will be superb at it.  Right up your alley.

I joined Earth Hour last year and got everyone in my family and friends into it as well.  I already do as much as I can to not use energy as much as possible (unplugging all appliances when not in use and such).  I've got my whole family walking around their houses unplugging stuff every day.  Me, I only have one lamp in my livingroom, my toaster, my laptop, TV and blow dryer that I need to unplug.  My family members all have big houses so it is a LOT more unplugging for them, but they are will ing to do it.  We have to start somewhere.  This year we are all getting together at my sister's house and lighting candles and playing board games with the kids for the special evening.  I am hoping it becomes a yearly get together for my family.  I personally think my nieces and nephews spend far to much time in front of electrical toys (computer and TV).

Again, congratulations on the new job.

Thank you Diane for you kind words :)  You are such a great person!  I am also very pleased to hear that you and your family participate in Earth Hour/Day as well. . . It is so nice that you all spend time having fun during this awesome moment and I'm sure that it is an inspiration to your nieces and nephews to see the adults they look up to being so environmentally conscience :)

Take care. . . Hope all is going well with you!

Congrats, Congrats! How exciting about your ebook getting off the ground. That is really wonderful.

I participated in Earth Hour last year & plan to do the same again this year. Good for the environment & even better for the wallet. :) Only think I'm worried about is the fridge (not that there's much of anything in there). Do you think it's okay to leave the power off on the fridge for an hour. Probably so, right? Anyone have any experience?

Thank you Frances :)  You are just a wonderful lady!
I think it's great so many people take a part in Earth Hour. . . I didn't realize the movement had become so strong.  It's such a good thing :)  We let our fridge go off during that time and I am still alive after the last one, so I'm sure it is fine, lol.  If it is warm where you are at and you have pork or other perishables, you might want to stick them in the freezer during that hour to be cautious, but most fridges stay very cold long after being shut off.
Take care my friend!
