Haven't posted in a while on this board. (regular on the UC Board)
I've been having a terrible time the last while with my health anxiety. (no meds) I have Ulcerative Proctitis that has flared up big time about 2 weeks ago and since it has flared I've been having other issues driving me nuts.
I've had back discomfort for about 3 months or so and have let my doctors know but they keep dismissing it as nothing. Well if you ever check out back pain on the net, it more often then not leads you to the fact it could all be internal issues, specifically the pancreas/gallbladder/liver.
Saw my GI last night on this and he insists it is nothing to be concerned about because of my age (45) and I have no other symptoms to be concerned about. (weight loss, nausea, vomitting, jaundice)
After annoying the heck out of him he finally agreed to order some bloodwork for me to settle my mind. So...went for the bloodwork today and it will be 7-10 days till I hear anything. I am now driving my wife even crazier (me too)
Just when I thought I was settling down, my anxiety is back with a vengeance and nailing me hard.
Any thoughts to help me along for the next 7-10 days would be much appreciated!

First, don't think about the blood test.... Just feel rest assured that you got the blood test done and if anything shows up, you'll be informed about it... It's taken care of. No problem.

Second, keep busy. PLAY GAMES! Read books.... That sort of thing. :)
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.

I think they usually give you that long a time frame for safety sake. I would try calling your doctor on Friday and see if they have any results. I have Crohns Disease myself and usually will have all my blood test results within about 3 days. And thats when they check my CBC and sed rate etc. As for the back pain could be because your guts are acting up you are getting referred pain from your intestinal tract. There is also arthritis associated with IBD too. Maybe ask for a referral to a Rheumatologist, they are better at diagosing back and joint pain.

Hang in there!!

Nanners, thanks for the thoughts.

I did phone the docs office and they said they would likely have results back early next week so it's not quite as long. 5 days still seems like an eternity for someone with Health Anxiety!

Good Morning,

I know I just block the thoughts from my mind and figure that all will be ok and in the end my worrying will have been my mind controlling me.

Get out and do some fun things, rent some funny videos and know that time keeps marching on and you will have your results soon.

Bless you

I always keep myself busy as well. . . I have so many projects going on that I let my mind roam to them instead of worrying all the time.

Good luck on finding some new hobbies and distractions :)
