Do you ever feel like your losing control of one particular side of your body? Like you can't move your arm or leg even though you really can? I've been experiencing this for a few weeks off and on now.

No I have not had that sensation and it does sound like you should see your physician about this issues to make sure it is not medically related to somehing.

I have...I thought I was having a stroke at the time, one side of my body was weak, even my face drooped! It was all mental in the end and passed like all the other ramdom physicial symptoms of depression, anxiety and panic. It had something to do with the mind being under so much stress and confusion at the time and I guess it was shorting out on time. It was quite a scary period in my life. This is just my experience, so please get medical advice if it continues for any length of time. I hope it passes for you soon. Take it easy and keep in touch. gillx

well it switches from side to side. In the past few weeks my anxiety has been at an all time high. I'll feel like i'm losing it, then i can sometimes stop thoughts and think of other stuff. it's just weird. I've struggled with anxiety for over 10 yrs now, and have felt this before. But not as often. My body is fully functional, yet i just feel outta control of it. The other day i had my BP checked and it was normal...well for me. In the past year i've had my bloodwork done and a stress test on my heart, my cholesterols, sugars and heart was fine. So, what else can it be but my anxiety and thoughts getting carried away?

the whole feeling like your having a stroke thing, sounds like me, that's exactly what i keep thinking. But I look at myself, and my face does not sag, i have all movement in all my limbs and face. Yet, i feel like crap. A few years back I started Welbutrin for anxiety and depression. And I came out of it pretty well. My wife however wants me to try and go without this time. I have a faith in God, i pray about this all the time. But, it still gets to me. She doesn't know it, i hide it well, because i don't want her to stress about my problem. Or i don't want her to think "oh something isnt going right at home, must be me". Because really i don't know what it is, what the root of it all is. If I knew, I'd fix it. I only take .5mg of lorazepam a day, and i take half in the morning half in evening. Isn't .5 a low dosage? I guess I better just go see the Dr. i have an appointment tomorrow. Thank you all for all your posts. I've read this site a lot and i'm happy to see that i'm not the only one suffering. And I can relate to a lot of what i've read.

I haven't had this happen on just one side of my body, but I have had numbness and "perceived" weakness in my arms and legs. I couple of times I also felt like my face was kind of numb. I was really afraid that I had MS. I've had an spinal MRI that revealed I have 2 disc herniations and spinal stenosis. According to the back specialist I went to it explains why I sometimes feel weakness, numbness and pain in my legs. I also had sciatica in the past, but last year I was having pain and numbness in the front of my thigh and the inside of my thigh. Physical therapy helped omprove this. I still don't have a concrete reason for arm pain, but the doctor had me do some quick tests to see if I had actual weakness in any of my limbs and I don't. She also ran some blood tests and I am vitamin D deficient. Apparently that can also cause you to have pain in the muscles of your arms. I personally think it's because I'm probably tensing them up a lot and I often have kids smooshing their heads on my arms :-). If you haven't already done so, tell your doctor you symptoms and they will evaluate you and, if neccessary, refer you to the proper specialist. For me the scariest part was not knowing. I would rather have found out that I had MS and started dealing with it, then always be wondering. Also are you getting enough fluids? Dehydration will make your limbs feel weak and numb.

Hi elkslayer-

Yep, you describe almost perfectly what I've been having with my "Return of Panic" - are the feelings any better yet, improved?

It's like you swear your arm won't work, but it does, it's like a "perceived" weakness - sometimes the left arm, or leg, or both, then it goes away ... then later, the right side - it's freaky!

I'm noticing it might be related to muscle tension, as I'll catch myself with my upper arm all tense, or one leg all tense -

Let me know how you're doing -

I'm dosing back up on Paxil, and hoping it kicks in to return me to "normal."

Best Wishes!
