Hi every1 anxiety wise i have been doing well recently. For those who can remember i weaned myself off the meds in january. However last week work caused alot of stress and i found myself slowly beginning to slip into old ways so i started taking meds again my decision. I have taking them for 3 days now and the side effects have been bad. All the old things i used to do when anxiety was bad, forgetting what im saying mid-sentence.... unable to sit still or sleep... constantlyworrying. So rite now the side effects from the meds are worse than the anxiety  was suffering.
Right now Im being haunted by two big questions. Firstly is the anxiety disorder part of me is it my personality. Secondly back on meds i started feeling depressed at some points and ive realised for the last few months i have been "comfortably numb". I havn't been really sad or really happy just sort of neutral its hard to explain but i really feel i have stopped enjoyin things. I think i have so much going on rite now my mind has shut off all emotions so i can just get by.

Hi badfish I am sorry to hear that you are having a tough time with your anxiety right now. Glad you got back on the meds, and hopefully things will quiet down soon. I know the meds have alot of side effects, and hope you can push thru them until the meds kick in. If you continue having problems be sure to contact your doc.

Thank you for the update and I am sorry you are having increased anxiety.  I am hoping that you are working with your physician in going on and off and back on the meds.
I hope you are soon over the side effects of getting onto the medications and life will be good again.  I have great faith in you.

Hang in there, and get all the good medical advice you can. I know you've made it through some hard times in the past, and so you're strong enough to make it through how you're feeling now.

The feeling numb thing is tough - you have to decide whether that's okay, how you'll tackle it if it's not (meds, counseling, lifestyle change, etc.), and what your goal is for how you *do* want to feel. My moods operate differently after years on Paxil than they did before, and I've adjusted some of the factors I listed above to get things closer to how I want them. It can be a little slow, but baby steps are okay.

Good luck, my friend!

Good luck Badfish! I hope things start looking up for you. . . You said you were worrying a lot and I was wondering if you have ever been through CBT or any type of relaxation stuff?

Take care now :)

The anxiety is a part of you, badfish... It is not likely to go away... You will have periods (which can last as long as years) where you aren't so anxious... and you will have periods where it feels like your world is falling apart. That's the nature of having an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety does not, however, define who you are, anymore than a disease defines who a person is or the color of someone's skin defines who that person is or whether you're left-handed or right-handed defines who you are...
I think I am being picked on by life, sometimes. But's that okay. Life and I are good buddies... I know life doesn't mean no harm. It just is the way it is. I can accept that.
