i am now 46 years old.  i think my anxiety issues began after my father died of a heart attack at 66.  i began having chest pains, some facial numbness, etc..  i was 23 when he passed.  every now and then since that time , every little pain i went to the ER - nothing was ever found - years went by and i felt fine with the exception of panicky feelings every now and then.  at 36 years old, my nephew died (he was 14)...thats when our family found out we had a genetic heart condition (long qt) - its an abnormal heartbeat.  my other nephew, and my sister had a defibulator put in - i didn't because i never displayed any sort of symptoms , such as fainting as a child.  the doctor does have me on beta blockers, as a precaution.  that worry has pretty much subsided, even though at the time, i went thru hell wondering and hoping that my children didn't inherit this condition (thank god they didn't)...
more years went by, i was, suddenly for the past year or so i've been getting more numbing/tingly sensations (not daily), but often enough to find it pretty annoying.  it scares me and makes me think i have a dreaded disease....i'm going for my mri tomorrow - please pray for me - i'm hoping it comes out normal.....i feel god forbid if i had something bad that i wouldn't be able to handle it....i'm weak that way !  i fear being disabled - my worst fear...
anyway thats pretty much my history - these panicky feelings come and go, but are MORE SO when i'm fearing about my health, or my famiy's health....i wish i were stronger.  the appt next week with a counselor is my last resort.....i hope it works...

Hi m102691. I'm sorry your finding yourself dealing with bad anxiety again. It seems like alot of people with the "medical anxiety" have lost someone due to something medical. It certainly isn't a walk in the park to let go of your fears. I'll keep you in my prayers for tomorrow & hope that everything goes well for you!

I too will keep you in my prayers. I think all will turn out well, anxiety likes to fool with us like that. Good luck!
