I don't have quite the same symptoms, but had what I call "choking awake" during the night a lot. I wasn't choking *on* anything, just felt like my throat stuck together or closed up for a few seconds. That all turned out to be caused by reflux, which I didn't suspect since I'd never had heartburn. You might want to ask your doctor or an ENT specialist about
your throat symptoms.
Of course, once those things happen, the anxiety roars in! Not breathing right is a sure-fire trigger for my anxiety.
