feeling discouraged :(

hi everyone. sorry i havent been posting lately - i've been really  trying hard to distract myself...
it's been about 4 months and i haven't had a panic attack, but i still am left with this general feeling of anxiety, not all the time, though and it isn't even every day anymore but i was wondering/hoping...is it possible to make it go away? my therapist said that my anxiety is "situational" and that i should be able to get back to myself but i get these scary thougths that maybe it'll never go away. I know that small amouts of anxiety are appropriate at specific times but when i just feel anxious for nothing it really makes me so unbearably sad. I wonder if im doing something wrong? I feel like if i know that it wont be like this forever then i can keep on fighting but right now im feeling a little hopeless :(

Interesting, I think I'm about at this stage or a little after it myself. I have a friend that has had anxiety for about a year and he said that he went through the same thing himself. This is merely one of the many parts that we have to go through in order to get better. I personally have been getting a little bit of agoraphobia which isn't the funnest experience as it makes traveling a bit hard. But I do really believe that you will get through this and be able to move on if you have the will and determination to do so. It seems to go through stages sort of like this (at least from what I've heard and dealt with myself) ---> Panic---24/7Anxiety---Random Daily Anxiety---Phobia Awareness---Dealing With Phobias---(Maybe Agoraphobia)---Slight to Intense Depression---Acceptance and Moving on. And you and I would be pretty close to the finish line really. In all actuality it's waaay better than panicking all the time or having constant anxiety. But anxiety tends to make you look towards the bad sides of things instead of the good. I just look at it as another symptom of the anxiety and then keep moving forward as best I can. I don't always feel sure that I can make it through, but soon those feelings will disappear too as long as I keep going towards the way I want to be. Stay positive!

Hello :)

Don't feel bad about not posting for awhile, many of us go through this and I'm back on after a few months of working 16+ hour days that left me so exhausted I did not have the strength to sit in front of my computer. Most everyone on here goes through the same thing and are a very understanding and loving bunch :)

I also feel like you do frequently and wonder if I will ever get back to "me" again. I know how scary and discouraging this can be. . . even hopeless as you stated. The only advice I have is to keep carrying on with your life the best you can and use every anxiety fighting technique in your arsenal to keep yourself going. Have you worked through any CBT or do daily relaxation exercises? These tools are so helpful and important for your recovery.

Just take one day at a time and keep fighting :) You will gain your confindence back before you know it :)

I actually know of a lot of people that have suffered from panic attacks/anxiety and honestly ALL of them tell me that im going to get better. i hope they arent just saying that...
I know of 3 people that had major anxiety/depression. I remember when one of them was going through it and he was literally shaking and sweating all the tiem..he was on clonazepam and venelafaxine i think and he got better, got off the meds, and is now fine.
the other two had it really bad years and years and years ago, both are still on clonazepam and antidepressants but they have both told me that they are completely better (with the help of the meds) but completely better regardless.

the one lady told me that "you will feel anxious times and then they'll go away and come back and go away until they just completely go away."

Hi always love, sorry to hear that your suffering, it is hard. You feel locked inside some sort of never ending nightmare, but it DOES get easier. Ive been to hell and back in the last 3 months and the end of dispair and wishing I wasnt here anymore, but it DOES get easier believe me. Anxiety is a learnt behaviour, its YOU that is causing your symptoms, only you will be able to totally rid yourself of this emotion. Yeh it does feel like anxiety is whispering in your ear. Try and divert your mind, chat with friends have a laugh, go out, if you do have another panic attack go with it, bring one on yourself and ride the fear. Anxiety can linger for ages, but your brain will eventually file the symptoms and you will forget. But you need to fill your every waking moment with distractions, it fools the brain.
