This is my first posting in any kind of form like this.  I have been suffering panick and anxiety attacks since I had a minor stroke almost two years ago.  The panick attacks came on almost nightly just a few months after my stroke.  I thought I was having a heart attack but of course I wasn't or I wouldn't be here writing this right now. Then a month or two later came the anxiety attacks again I thought I must have a brain tumor or that I was having another stroke this time, wrong. I still had no idea what it was. I didn't find out what anxiety even was until I talked with my sister who suffered from it but never told anyone.  I went to my doctor who kept precribing me medds for depression, I finally then decided to go to my sister Doc since they were so successful.  He prescribed me Xanax, I would like to say that anxiety attacks area thing of the pass for but it was not so but the meds definitely brought me back to earth and gave me a sense of being normal minded instead of being on th eedge thinking I was going to lose control and have another stroke.  If you are not taking any meds for anxiety I reccomend that you start it just may save your sanity. The only person who can tell you what maybe right for you is your health care provider.  I went a few months without either than out of the bluw Bam! an anxiety attack gets me last night and it was huge and long lasting, it's still lingering today not as bad but it's there. You may not to seem to have a care in the world but they will still get you. I was standing in the middle of my office chatting with a colleague and a panick attack hits me like a bus, I mean what's that all about. The worst anxiety attacks are the 1 1/2 to the 2 day ones. This stuff is no fun but we must deal with it in the best way we can.

Hey Kevin11,

And welcome to Healingwell. You attached to a very old post, so I made you your own, so you could get more responses.

I like you am able to stop my anxiety attacks with the help of my Xanax. My anxiety appeared in relation to a health issue also. Anytime, something either scares me or worries me, I will instantly get a anxiety attack. But thru therapy and the occasional Xanax I am now able to stop them in there tracks.

And welcome to our forum and I look forward to hearing more from you.
