My uncle got put on it today and I don't know whether it has a bad rep or anything.

There is a Anxiety resources thread on this page at the top.  Here is the link to mental health med' stie  that will answer some of your questions.

It is Rx for Anxiety and Depression.  I would like to believe that your Uncle was provided with information by his Doctor. :)

Take care and it is nice to know that you are looking out for you uncle.

I've been on Lexapro for over three years.
All SSRI's can help or hinder.  It depends on if the medication works for you and with your brain.
It's worked for me for a long time but now it's pooping out.  Yay.
That's what happens sometimes though.
I have to up my dosage.  Currently on 20 mgs.
