It seems that when I get up (I sleep till 11:45 a.m. usually) I am so tired and anxious. I will struggle with those feelings for a good number of hours. But by the time it is finally getting late evening, I usually start to feel better. My energy level goes up and my anxiety level goes down. It makes me dread getting up in the mornings! The fatigue is awful along with the anxiety and it is depressing. Can anyone relate? :(

Good Morning Janetlee,

When I was struggling the most with my anxiety and depression I felt the very same way. I could wake up and start to cry in bed as I was so anxious and worrying about the day ahead. I would feel useless and not even know what to do when I got up.

I would spend mornings in tears and by afternoon I was feeling better and able to function fairly well.

I do know what your feeling.

I recently heard that if you sleep too much sometimes it can cause an increase in anxiety/depression. Do you feel you are sleeping too much or not enough?

I was exactly like this not more than a week ago! First of all, idk if you oversleep but I did. I would sleep 10 or more hours a night, but wake up feeling exhausted and very very anxious. I then didn't want to get out of bed to face the day so I would try to just sleep again. The thing is I slept so much but was never quite rested because I would wake up several time in a night with nightmares and be really anxious or I would just randomly wake up with anxious thoughts, but generally could get back to sleep easily after 10 minutes. So I would feel awful in the mornings, then better after I got up and going, then I would feel worse when the sun would set(weird i know), then better again at night until it was time to sleep. I still feel worse in the mornings now, but its not as much anxiety but more depression, but its dramatically improved in just one week. I try to make sure that I exercise in the evening, then before I get ready for bed I do relaxing breathing exercises and stretches to loosen my body up. I then set an alarm for 7-9 hours after the time I think I'll fall asleep. It took some practice and will power but now I sleep no more than 9 hours a night and my anxiety has definitely improved. I'm still getting used to it today though, I still feel pretty tired when it starts getting dark now when I used to stay up till 12 everynight. But my body is just adjusting and sometimes I'll throw in a 30-60 minute nap during the day. This generally helps alot too because you don't fall into a DEEP sleep thats hard to come out of, but you have a good uninterrupted sleep for a short period of time. After the nap you have to be sure to wake yourself up though, which like I said isn't as hard to do because you're not in a deep sleep.

I hope this helped you out a bit

Good luck and God Bless

I may very well be sleeping too much. That thought had crossed my mind...I have sleep apnea and have to wear a cpap mask which I hate, so I often spend part of the night sleeping with it on and part with it off!
I made myself get up about 45 minutes earlier today. not much, I know, but something at least! I am trying to get myself straight! Thank you ALL for your feedback! Many hugs!!!!!!!!
