I was doing pretty good, I had not had any attacks so to speak for atleast a month and a half, I talked to my cousin yesterday who is doing bad and also suffers from anxiety, he told me about his latest ordeal, and I know he is not doing well, its like I absorb emotion from family and friends, then the next thing I know I 'm trying to sleep last night and I started having a panic attack. Yucky, I finally fell asleep then on the way to work this morning I started having the palpitations and feel the anxiety creeping in. I took a half (1 mg) of my ativan, so hopefully I will be okay soon, not really wanting to be on the sleepy side here at work, but it was that or have a full blown attack.
But does anyone else get anxiety brought on by other peoples situations??????? Please tell me I'm not alone.

You are definetly not alone with this. I have 3 daughters and whenever they have stress I immediately start feeling it too.

Yes, I go through this and often find I buy into someone else's problems and anxiety and in the end they are off shopping and I am home alone in anxiety mode. smhair

I try hard not to buy into others anxiety but to support them.

You are not alone in this type of anxiety.

Thank you both so much, it does give some comfort to know its not just me.
It's hard because you want to know what is going on with friends or family, but
then like it was said here, that are off doing something and you are now stuck with the
emotions and anxiety from it.

I do this too often and too much! I absorb my three grown sons problelms and end up with so much anxiety and shortness of breath and chest takes me a long time to calm down...sometimes days. I am really trying hard not to do that and I have actually succeeded a few times. My sons call me and cry on my shoulder...I end up a nervous wreck and they have forgotten all about it by evening. I'm left all out of whack! I will not do this...I will not do this...I will not do this anymore!!! Joni

Wowww I must say as I know the whole anxiety situation sucks... It brings me comfort to know I'm not the only one going thru this. Sometimes when I get anxiety attacks it takes me DAYS to calm down. Like right now. This is day 2 of racing heart and shortness of breath :(

I have been battleing with this as well (You are not alone) I just started reading these post and am starting to realize that I am not alone. As much as I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy, its at least good to know that I'm not crazy. It is so refreashing to be able to vent on a site like this. Its very hard talking to someone about this who has never gone through it..Thank you for your post

I know that one of the things that makes me the most anxious is picturing myself with anxiety, because having a major anxiety/ panic attack is really uncomfortable, and causes me to feel so much fear.
So maybe seeing someone else being anxious makes you worry that you will get that way also.
