Just saying hello as the thread for new members asks. I've had episodic anxiety issues, I suppose depression triggered, for years and it has recently cropped up again but with new symptoms. After feeling unusual pressure in my temples, ears, eyes and other sinus areas for a few days but no mucus or cold/allergy symptoms I was getting more and more concerned.

Since it wasn't a symptom I was familiar with I of course wanted to chalk the anxiety up as actually being a justified response to something serious going wrong with me. Tonight sitting in my office alone and getting into full blown panic attack territory I took one of my last few valiums, and eventually googled "temple pressure" which had an old thread from here as one of the top results.

What a relief it was to see someone talking about nearly identical symptoms that are attributed to jaw clenching in ones sleep, which I certainly do. I also rub the roof of my mouth behind my front two teeth with my tongue in my sleep, enough that its sore all day. I've been sleeping with a mouth guard for teeth grinders, which may be encouraging the clenching although I'm not sure.

Anyway, checking out the forums here was very encouraging to me in a strange way. Made the anxiety seem smaller. And at least now I'm reasonably confident that my ears and temples aren't going to explode turning my head into a lawn sprinkler. Now to figure out how to work on this jaw clenching. There is a vague dizziness that I find the most annoying about this whole episode. Anyway, thanks all, glad to have found this site.

Welcome Jay!

I have more issues with depression, but I have anxiety also. I clench and grind my teeth, and am supposed to wear a mouth guard, but it's hard to do when you are congested, so I usually don't put it in. I wake up sometimes with some jaw pain and headaches because of it. Also, I bite my tongue and sometimes cheeks in my sleep...but there's no mouthguard for that, lol!

I've had a few anxiety attacks, and I usually have some kinda feels like when one of your feet falls asleep but it's in my entire body...very bizarre when it happens, but it's good to know that it's a normal part of panic attacks.

I'm glad you found this site too! It's good when you have a strange symptom that you don't want to run to the doctor over.

Welcome Jay,

I have Anxiety and Depression and was first dx with these mental health issues in 1982. I have had some really good years, worked full time for 26 years and also had some bumps in the road but finding this site was a blessing for me also.

This is a great site. I hope you stick with us and I look forward to getting to know you better.

A warm welcome to HealingWell.
