I haven't posted for awhile because my anxiety overall has been much better. Needing a change in my antidepressant I believe and will talk to the doc this afternoon about that.

Three weeks ago tomorrow my 13 year old niece was in a golf cart accident and died as a result of her injuries. I am especially close to her and her sister because they are my only nieces/nephews on my side of the family, I won't have grandchildren, and my sister and I are so close.

She was on life support for 36 hours before she passed away.

My bipolar condition kicked in and I was able to go without sleep for 53 hours and be with my sister and her family all the time at the hospital. My anxiety never exacerbated except the night of the accident, which was an appropriate response. Then in the next 8 days I had tremendous energy to help with the arrangements, be with my sister, and clean and tidy my house for an assessment.

I am still numb/in denial about my niece, Regan, being gone, but am hurting so bad right now for my sister. There is nothing anyone can say that will help and only those who have also lost a child can really relate to what my sister and her husband are going through. SHe is of course suffering anxieyt and panic attacks and is taking Xanax to help her get through it all. She was previously on antidepressants but not anxiety medications.

My anxiety is still at bay. I take Buspar at this time and have undergone hypnosis to help with my anxiety. Thankfully all seem to be helping me through this difficult time.

i am so sorry about your niece i know too well the heartache of losing a child
it is not suppose to be in that order it throws the world off its axis and the parents as well
i also think that words ppl said to me at the time i took in but did not compute right away or did not accept them
your sister will need you really more now than ever
grief has so many layers there will be denial anger and plenty more
if you can survive being the strong one in this i know you will be her best comfort
but you need to also make sure you deal with this perhaps with her idk all i know is that you cannot deal with it til its acknowledged
make sure you keep your safe net around you n perhaps come here more
we will be here
i am so sorry

i know its just recent but i believe in finding some counselling right away for their tremendous loss and you will no doubt feel tons of hard emotions coming at you so you are going to no doubt stumble a bit
again come here we will walk with you
