I am constantly anxious. 24 hours a day. It's all radiating on my left side from face, my throat, all the way to my left hip. It's ripping at my body.

Is this prednisone withdrawal? I'm at 6 - 0 -6 -0
Is this poor adrenal function?
Is this just an inability to cope with anything?

Please I need help. I can't get in to see an endocrinologist now, none available. My GI wants me on more pred because I have poor adrenal function. My PDOC wants me on higher doses of drugs (zyprexa).

I've tried breathing and stretching. None of it works.

In remission! Diagnosed pancolitis mild to mod 9/19/09. Now tapering 6 and 0 mg alternating days for one month each mg. to 0. Allegedly battling diminished adrenal function due to being on pred so long.

multi-vitamin; calcium plus D, Biotin, turmeric. Eliminated dairy, caffeine, alcohol, fried, greasy, citrus, and artificial sweeteners, red meat on occasion for protein. For sleeping, Melatonin 4 mg, Zinc Magnesium and B6 compound- 2 cap and Zyprexa.

I suspect with your medical dx that you have anxiety but if it is caused by your med decrease I do not know.

Wondering if you have a therapist and a Pdoc or does your Pdoc do therapy ?

Sorry I do not have the magic answer but perhaps another member will have some words of wisdom for you.

I too am weaning from pred (currently @10mg) and have had non stop anxiety. Its hard to even get to work. I have always had anxiety but suddenly its awful. The docs say its from the pred but i disagree because this started before i dropped my dosage.I was upped on Zoloft from 50 to 100mg and they gave me xanax to take(.5) when i need it but i really never do for fear of dependence. Try working out or exercising.

It could also be GAD. I am on Paxil 60 mg and Buspar 60 mg each day for GAD. I used to have xanax as needed, but am doing okay right now.
Here's where you can read about GAD:

I am on cortef and and have been weaning off since last October. I just cut down again about 3 weeks ago and I also have non stop anxiety. I know that I have anxiety anyway but this has been horrible. Every time I sit or lay down it feels as though my heart is going to beat out of my chest. My body will not relax or rest and it is exhausting.

I have to get off the cortef so I have no choice but it has been terrible...

I have this anxiety too. Mine is just from worrying about tomorrow. I am always thinking things are going to get worse and noticing symptoms, worrying about all the "what-ifs", plus I have the stress of all the things in my everyday life going on. It's too much to handle. People always tell me I need to meditate or breathe and that is great if it helps you but in my opinion, that helps people with stress about work or deadlines... regular every day stresses, the things we are stressed about are beyond that. Mine anyway, I can't speak for anyone else. I feel sick over being sick. Sometimes I wish tomorrow didn't exist so I could stop the cycle. I don't think breathing is going to change that feeling. I do a lot of hiking and spend a lot of time by myself doing things that are considered "good" for anxiety relief but it does not help significantly. I can get lost in the moment and feel relief but my general overall feeling is one of worry and anxiety. Today has been a pretty physically rough day, tomorrow might be worse...
