Do any of you have tastes & smells enhanced?

My husband is obsessed with having tastes of foods stay in his mouth. If he eats almost anything he can't stand the after taste. It's not from "bad" foods, but from foods he's loved for years. Even toothpaste!

Then he's having trouble with smells. He had a PA with smelling a skunk a couple of weeks, so now every smell that is odd or not, he gets worried. He put some Ben Gay on his arm which hurt, and had to take a shower to get rid of it. He could still smell it in bed last night so I had to change all the sheets and spread.

Do you think this is a reaction to a med?

Hello,

I would look at all his medications and check with a pharmacist re side effect that would cause your husband to have issues with taste and smells.

Some people with GERD will have a bad taste in their mouth from acid reflux.

I took him to his med doc yesterday. There is nothing physically wrong with him. Today we go to his pdoc.

I took away the newest med he tried thinking that might have been the culprit. Not much change. I'm thinking maybe more of the BP acting up? Since he says he has gravel in his teeth, throat and belly. Also he can't stand any loud noises. I can barely have the tv sound on.
Maybe I'll post in the BP area to see if this is anything.

I did a search for hypochondriasis. It sounds like this is what he has. It is a symptom of anxiety. How do I deal with this? I can't take him to the med dr everytime he has something wrong.

He also says he has gravel in his eye and had been putting drops in for a week. So I should take him to the eye dr just to make sure there isn't anything in it.

  Hi Mrsfarmer

I in a way went though what your hb had gone though, but not to his point, I could not be around anything that had a chemical smell to it at all, even just having a beer I would have to put my head outside the window and trust me at -20 below it was the only relief I had but even the smallest of smells that were related to chemicals  I was having problems as I was chemically sensitive to all smells, but I had an overdose of paint chemicals as a auto body painter and is called MCS as it really wrecked my life into the world of A/P and the effects of neurotoxicity on my body.

  Cowboy up
