I am 16 years old and am suddenly experiencing incredible sadness that i've never felt even in situations of family death. I feel sadness physically! Through my body, it's strange. I can't eat, sleep or even concentrate in a conversation. I feel like I am dreaming all the time. Or the feeling you get when you have had a bad dream and you feel strange the next day. I feel sick all the time as if i've heard some bad news. I can't control my terrifying thought and visions of death. Of me growing old and dying. I don't know if this feeling is because i am starting college and am scared of being an adult. I am currently taking antibiotics. Could they be effecting my hormones or chemical imbalances? I need to know how to control my thoughts and get back to normal

Hi Hawk and welcome. It sounds as if you are experiencing some depression and anxiety. They often go hand in hand and manifest themselves with both mental and physical symptoms. Have you seen a doctor, or been diagnosed for either? Looks like you have been on the depression forum too. Did anyone there suggest seeking therapy? You are at a very difficult stage in your life. Transitoning into adulthood can be overwhelming! My oldest daughter is your age, and having lots of anxiety. If you are living at home I would encourage you to see your family doctor as a start. If you are away at school, talk to your counselor. The good news is that both of these things are treatable! You can get help and enjoy this stage of your life as an adventure, rather than a sad event. Keep posting here as well, there are many people who understand how you feel, and are pulling for you:)

You mentioned that you are taking antibiotics, and certain ones can indeed cause depressive feelings. Did you notice these feelings start up when you started the antibiotic??? I would urge you to go back to your doctor and discuss all of this. It sounds like depression and anxiety. Depressive feelings can make you anxious, and vice versa. There are many therapies (including medication if your doctor deems it necessary) available to help these problems, so don't just grin and bear it. Sixteen is a hard age to be at, so maybe it is hormonal, or worries about your transition into adulthood causing anxiety. As I've already said, you should see your doctor ASAP. We are not doctors, and can only throw possibilities out there for you to consider, but the symptoms you've described need to be evaluated by a professional. The sooner you get help, the sooner you'll feel better. These things rarely get better by trying to ignore them.

I pray the best for you.

God bless :-) .

Hello and welcome to HealingWell.  I am sorry you are having these thoughts and feelings and I am hoping that you have parents that are understanding and available to you for discussion of  your fears and anxieties.
You are young  (16) and facing college is a big change for you.  Are you going to be living at home or moving away for school ?
Coming here and posting was a brave thing to do and shows you recognize that you need help so keep posting,  check in with your doctor and talk with your parents as these are all good steps in learning to cope with your problems.
Great advice by the members who have posted to you.  :-)
