No, it is not easy to miss one of your children. Our oldest son went into the Marines right out of high school and settled on the west coast. I do not get to see him often, perhaps an average of once a year. He has been away from home for 25 years now and I do miss him. I have never had the chance to bond with his 4 chldren.
Our 3rd son died in a car accident in 1990 and I grieve for him everyday. Time does march on and the pain is less frequent but the intensity is always the same.
I am lucky to have 2 chldren that still live near me and I cherish them dearly.
Do not worry about how you may feel, instead just take one hour at a time.
