Hi A.L. I have gone through the journey with out medication. I put a lot of thought into it, and decided to see if therapy would help first before trying an Rx.
Before I go any further, let me say that I am neither pro, nor con medication. I believe that it is a completely personal decision, and everyone's needs/situations will differ.
I went through two courses of CBT, and it was difficult in the beginning! I often wonder if it would have been easier if I had temporarily been on medication to help me through the beginning stages, when the panic was so constant.
So there is really not a definitive answer to your question...No, it's not possible for some people, yes, it is for others, but ultimately you have to come to your own conslusion, and what's best for you.
Talk to your dr. or therapist, research (books/net) then make your informed decision. We will of course be here to support you either way.
