Hello ... I'm new to here, just stumbled upon this site looking up about panic attacks. Iam suffering from them really badly at the mo. having at least two aday. I have never suffered from this bfor since 7 weeks ago wen my gp prescribed me psuedoephedrine. Now I'm a quivering mess! Iam suffering with sinus problems which dosnt help! I have had to stop taking caffine as this gives me rushes n makes me panic, used to love coffee!! And can't take any kind of stimulant even paracetamol with caffine in gives me panic! Crazy!! I feel for everyone on this site, about the stories u have written. I also have terrible insomnia now too. Crazy how one little drug from the doctor has done this to me. I wanna slap him!!
I try so hard to control my panics but they get the better of me everyday. I hope I can sort them out! N soon too!!

Glemm, it can be tough i just started having mine also out of the blue a few months ago, and it is very strange how they can get the better of us no matter how hard we try. i started taking meds and am going to see a therapist soon to hopefully overcome them. I've seen some people say its better to try and relax and let them happen because they will go away and if your body doesnt see you struggle and get stressed with them they might learn to cope together. Easier said then done of course. but i would talk to a doctor and see what there is you can do. there are ways through it

Hope you the best

Hi Glemm

Good to meet you and welcome to the forum you have found a great support network. I gave you a heading for your post so hopefully you will get more reply's. Sorry to read you are having panic attacks that must be hard for you. Am I right in saying Pseudoephedrine is a decongestant? I know that in some cases when mixing a stimulant such as caffeine with a decongestant can cause panic attacks.

So I think it was a good move to cut out coffee I would talk with your GP again and tell him/her your symptoms as there is a lot of things which can help with panic attacks such as medication and talking therapies such as CBT. Have a look at www.moodgym.com which is a free CBT web page.

I have suffered with bad insomnia for years so can relate on that one I find that it has a direct affect on my anxiety and when I have not slept the best my anxiety is always higher. I had to get into a good sleep routine I goto bed at the same time every day, I never read or watch tv in bed as your brain then start to associate your bed with being awake and not sleeping. What I do is if I wake up I get out of bed and sit in a chair and read then when I am tired go back to bed.

Keep posting and let us know how you are getting on we are here to support you and give advise when we can.

Thanks ... It's good to kno that I'm not the only one suffering with this. Not that I wish it on anyone but at least someone else does understand wat I'm going thru. N yes psuedoephedrine is a decongestant. Think it's in the amphetamine group of drugs. Or so it says on Wikipedia. Just must of had a bad reaction to it cus I was up straight for 5 days. N that drained me completely n never been able to sleep the same as I did bfor I took it now. I will be going to see a therapist soon about my panic attacks I get. But I really think if I can beat this sinusitis they will go down alot! Here's to hoping anyway!!

Also I wish I cud have a good sleep routine but with sinusitis u have to grab sleep wen u can. Cus I find it impossible wen my sinuses pour. N not much stops it. So wen it stops I sleep. Watever time of the day!

Hi Glemm!

I also started to have Panic Attacks after using pseudophedrine for my sinuses. Just make sure to get your blood pressure checked. Pseudophedrine can raise blood pressure and I am no longer allowed to take it because I am pre-hypertensive.

Hi rojoricky ... It's an awful drug isn't it. It's active ingredient in lots of decongestants. Can't believe they sell it over the counter!! I have had my blood pressure taken lots recently. I'm good on that. It's just left me with the panics and trying to catch my breath. Hope u get better soon rojoricky n kick those panics away. I listen to lots of old 1970s reggae music, that calms me down lots! Think it's the tempo of the music that slows ur heart down!!
