Welcome to HealingWell and I too am sorry you had one nasty panic attack. I understand how awful it feels to be going on your merry way and feeling pretty good only to get slammed by an attack that you never saw coming.
I am fortunate to have an awesome hubby who recognizes when I am in a bad panic mode and he will talk me down by just reminding me that I am OK and to stop the racing thoughts that go with my panic attacks. Most of the time I will just creep into high anxiety but last week I had a bad panic attack which is rare these days.
Yes the meds help but only to a point. I do believe in your case having called your parents and talking with them was a wise move. Please don't ever think your are bothering your parents. My oldest is 47 and if he calls with a problem I am here and feel honored that he still calls his Mom when the going gets to tough.
My 45 year old daughter will call me too when she is in high anxiety mode and I will just listen and tell her to take a big breath as well as remind her that she is a wonderful person going through a tough time.
You are so right, prayer is a powerful thing for so many.
