Hey All,

As you all know by now, Davy Jones , from The Monkees passed
recently. For my generation, it made me think of the passage of
time and my own mortality. Combine with that,I'm at a crossroads
in my own life as far as what to do with it career wise, it just
made me think of how we have to try and make the most of our
time here.

Reading about Davy's life, it was clear he made the most of it, he
really lived. He didn't live as long as some, but he tried to live it
to it's fullest.

Looking at my own life If I'm honest I have to say that being
apathetic has been as significant as the general, social anxiety
I experience sometimes.

Having someone die that I watched as a kid , makes me realize
that time goes by so fast, and you get never get it back!
Also, everything has a shelf life and energy of our youth and
the opportunities that go by will not always be there.

I know like myself many people here suffer anxiety and it can
stagnate our lives. But, at the same time I have to move on.

Another thing I notice like things have a shelf life they also can
get tired, become 'played'. So you can't let anxiety undermine
things while your window of opportunity is there, cause once
it's gone, it's gone and you may never get it back.

Personally, things can get tired or 'played out' because although
I haven't experienced them to the fullest (because of anxiety,
apathy) , after awhile my lack of progress has made it all boring
to me.

Energy is not limitless, sometimes you have to do it sooner
because there may not be a later.

Can anyone relate?

Absolutely! With several (almost) peer celebrities (they were just a few years older than myself and my older sisters) recently departing...it certainly brings to mind my own mortality!

You are so right about living in the present and making the most of our time! Very wise words indeed:) Sometimes I wonder where the time has gone as well...even saying things like 'Where has the time gone?' makes me feel like my great-grandmother, OMGsh!!!

I think that the fact that you are cognigzant of these things, shows that you are not stagnating, or wasting your time. This is just your brain's way of keeping you motivated. I believe it is those who don't give where they are going in life a thought that are in danger of being idle.

Thanks for the thoughts...they are, as always, good and a challenge for me;)

Good post - I am the same age as Davy was and I was already raising my children when he was performing as a young guy.  He lived a great life and was able to fufill many dreams.

I have gotten to an age where I look back and I see lots of things I always dreamed of doing but have not been able to.  I have really had some tough times accepting that some of these will never get done.  Then I look back and start making a list of all of the awesome things I did get to do which I would have never as a kid dreamed I would have had the opportunity to do.

I have been around the block and to two state fairs is my favorite saying.  I have also traveled to many cities in the USA as well as traveling to London, Paris, Nice and Amsterdam.  I have been on 5 cruises and I have been to Mexico and the Bahamas. I have watched my children graduate from college, was there when one was homecoming king in college.  I have been the Mother of the bride and of 2 grooms.  I have learned to ride a Harley, to be an nurse, and to be the best daughter I could be.  I have had the joy of being blessed with 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. I have been married for 41 years to the love of my life.

I had a career that I loved and I still have many opportunities to help others.

Even though I had a major set back in 2006 I have still managed to travel, and do things I had on my list.  I will always have a list of what I want to do and even thow I know I will never be able to complete the list I will not let my anxiety/depression keep me down.

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.” ~ Dr. Seuss

Again a great post.

There is a quote I love.

Thanks everyone for your replies. In my case I can be my worst critic
so while moving ahead I have to remember to be good to myself.

Anyways, hope everyone has a great week.

HI

Wish everyone a great weekend.

I pulled out this old post, at which I deleted a post and here is the short version of it.

You don't know how bad things are till they get worse - which with time they will if you don't have
the sense of urgency that you must while you still are okay.

Okay, so I am behind the eight ball, have to start over again as far as a real job.

Years ago I was established and woke each day having the confidence and security of my employers
and did not worry about money

As I said in my deleted post that security made me relaxed, confident and effective when I worked
which made me more successful.

Now after not getting anything - but I have to say I was not really driven until the last year ( I know
that is incredible) - I need to get something viable - lets say I needed it years ago.

I can hardly stand this - financial sales I thought would be a better opportunity, but I have spinned
my wheels for too long.

I am reaching out to anyone who ha s advice about starting over - if I can possibly get a real job.

Does anyone have advice about being my old self , have my prior confidence , under this pressure
while trying to negotiate large financial deals?

There are some great worksheets here at this site. (sorry if I have previously shared)

http://www.get.gg/freedownloads2.htm

I know that there is one specifically self-confidence.

There are times when we don't feel ourselves, and it is great that you recognize this about yourself and situation.

Even those who are secure and confident can feel less so during certain times in their lives situationally.

Check the link out and see if there is anything that could be of help.
