Hi Charmy and welcome!
I am sorry hear that you are suffering panic issues.:(
This is what I found on Venlor/Venlaflaxine/Effexor:Venlafaxine is used to treat mental depression. It is also used to treat certain anxiety disorders or to relieve the symptoms of anxiety. However, it generally is not used for anxiety or tension caused by the stress of everyday life. Venlafaxine is also used to treat panic disorders .
You should not take this medication if you are allergic to venlafaxine, or if you are also using a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). You must wait at least 14 days after stopping an MAOI before you can take venlafaxine. After you stop taking venlafaxine, you must wait at least 7 days before you start taking an MAOI.
Do not take venlafaxine together with desvenlafaxine (Pristiq).
If you have any of these other conditions, you may need a venlafaxine dose adjustment or special tests:
The side effects are the same as with any SSNRI, so if your doctor has carefully checked it against your other Rx's and thinks that it could be helpful, then I would give it a try.:)
You may also want to consult those in the Bi Polar forum if you haven't already...someone may be on the same regime as you and can tell you from experience how it is working.
Please feel free to post with us anytime regarding anxiety feelings/issues...we are here to help and support.:)
