I have been using 40 mgs of Viibryd for 8 weeks. It's pretty much taken hold. Has anyone else taken Viibryd and if so, what do you think?

It is hard to compare one anti- depressent to another because everyone reacts different to these meds. It sounds like it might be the right one for you if you are feeling better. good luck and keep up the good work with positive thougths

Hi Vic and welcome:)

I Personally do not have any knowledge regarding this med, but hopefully someone with some experience will chime in soon. After eight weeks you should have a good idea whether of not it is working for you though.

It is good to hear from others and get their opinions and findings, but utimately Barbz is right on with her is how it is working for you that really counts!

Feel free to post with us anytime with questions or sharing. We hope you find this a place of information, support and understanding.

Take care,

Thank you to both of you. If anyone in the future wants to compare notes on Viibryd, just let me know.

I do believe you are one of the first members who has posted about this new drug.  Forest Labs. paid $1.2 billion to acquire Clinical Data Inc. and Viibryd, a depression drug Clinical Data developed. Viibryd was approved in January of 2011 and Forest expected it to reach the market by the end of June. I would guess you are one of the pioneers using this medication :)
Perhaps you can help us all by telling us what other AD meds you have been on in the past, if your using the medication for anxiety or for anxiety and depression and why you think it has helped you ?
Finding the right antidepressant is a matter of trial and error. I hope this is the one for you.

I was on Paxil for 12 years for anxiety. I was extremely happy with Paxil accept for the weight gain problem. We tend to blame all our problems on antidepressants by my weight problem was caused more from over-eating. On December 15, 2011, my doctor said I had borderline high Blood pressure and high cholesterol. l simply said to him, "Give me three months." Since then, I've lost 46 pounds. My doctor mentioned that Viibryd did not have the weight-gaining side effects that Paxil had, so I thought I'd give it a try.

For me, Viibryd has taken a longer time to reach its full effectiveness than Paxil did. So one has to be somewhat more patient. I suggest that one be extremely careful with alcohol because I've had two of the worst nightmares ever. However, those are the only negatives I've experienced.

The positives are much more energy throughout the day. And no weight problem. However, I'm eating correctly.

As time goes on, I'd be glad to hear from others and will always be willing to share my thjoughts and experiences
