Hi noddy and welcome!
I am sorry to hear that anxiety is interfering with your school and studies. You are not alone...we have many posts regarding anxiety and panic manifesting itself with people your age.
You may also know that public speaking, is for many, the number one fear that they have to face...so again, you are in good company.
Specific phobias can be treated well with therapy, but since you may not have the time to get into this before your next assingment...I will give you some tips for the short term...but keep that in mind for the future.
*First of all be really prepared. The best way to feel confident is to go in knowing your material well!
*Envision a positve outcome. Do not let the negative, or 'what-if' thoughts take over your thinking. Tell your self that you are capable of this assignment and that your speaking engagement will be a success!
*Use breathing and relaxation exercises before, during and after your presentation. A lot of panic symptoms can be attributed to improper breathing. (sub-conscious hyperventilaion) Breathing the right way will reverse many symptoms. See our Anxiety-Panic Resources (main page 2nd post) and check out the links that teach these techniques for reducing panic!
Good luck and let us know how it goes. Again welcome, and post anytime:)
