I am on 5mg/day Lexapro.  I think this morning I accidentally took it twice.  I am not 100% sure, but I think so.  I am a little worried about  this because when I first started on Lex, I was on 10mg/day, and side effects were unpleasant.  Also, I am sure one is supposed to keep a steady dose in system -- not take different amounts on different days.  Once I skipped a day, by mistake, and  it was fine.  But that might be better than taking two in a day.  I am usually careful about this but I think I messed up today.  I hope I won't suffer consequences as a result. Anyone ever mess up and take double?  Did you live to tell about it???

You are certainly going to live to tell about it! I am no expert on this, but I did want to reassure you that you will be okay. It sounds like you might not have doubled up, so try to put it out of your mind, and don't anticipate any problems, or you could end up bringing on anxiety instead.

Even if you had taken two, the worst case senario would probably be the side effects that you were feeling on the higher dose that you were previously on...but at just a one time bump in your schedule...it would most likely be mild.

If you are really concerned, you could give a quick call to your doctor, or pharmacist just to be reassured.:)

Why not get one of those pill dispensers that have a compartment for every day of the week so that you can better keep track of when you have or haven't taken your pill...they are inexpensive and can be found at the drug or grocery store.

I hope that you can relax, not worry about this anymore and enjoy an awesome day!:)

Talk to you soon,

I did that one day and I lived to tell about it turn .  I suspect you will be just fine if you don't let the worrying take hold of you.
The pill dispenser is a great idea and I just bought one for my hubby who has a heck of a time remembering if he took his meds as he takes different doses on different days as well as one med he only takes on Tuesday.  He is loving the pill box.  I bought him the 7/days with time slots for morning, noon, dinner time and bedtime.  You can pull out just a days slot and take it with you if you are going away for the day.  Slick.
Enjoy your day !

Thanks. I do have one of those pill dispensers, but have been too lazy or arrogant to use it. (Lazy = not bother; Arrogant = I don't need it; I can remember). But I guess I should start.... So far I have not felt any different. (I told my wife; she said "Great; you took two happy pills, so will be twice as happy today!")

I have done that on many occasions by mistake because of the amount of different pills. the max dose of Lexapro is 20mg so if you have taken 10mg you will be ok if you have any concerns go and see your doctor

I try not to worry about the future -- so I take each day just one anxiety attack at a time.

I also have "double dosed" in past by mistake. I literally did not notice anything different at all. I think you would have to do it for a few days for things to crop up. You are fine, especially considering you weren't taking more than the max (20mg).

Just try not to focus on it. I know that is easier said than done :-).
