I am sure that you are going to be fine...going from an SSRI to an SNRI should be fine, and your doctor knows how these medications work, so try to put your trust in that.
When starting many A/D meds, there is a chance in an intial increase of symptoms...however, I have heard mostly of just a general feeling of anxiety, and actually a decrease of attacks. I can't promise that this will be your experience, but even the initial increase of anxiety will subside.
And besides, if you think about it...if you do try it...yes there is a chance that you could have a panic attack...but if you are already having them, then you are pretty much going to go on having them, without the benefit of the med that may eventually help if you don't give it a try.
Also, I am sorry that I can't remember this...but are you also set up with therapy? I can't recommend it enough, and if you are reluctant, or not having success with medication, it could possibly allow you to be less in need of an Rx. (I say possibly, b/c everyone is different, and while therapy is an excellent treatment, not everyone has the same results.)
If you decide to go for it, let us know. We are here to support you either way.:)
